Whitfield Sweeps Central MO Classic at TanglewoodJeff Whitfield wasted no time in servingnotice that he was ready for the 2012golf season as he won both the Regular& Senior division titles in the CentralMO Classic. 60 of the <strong>Gateway</strong> <strong>PGA</strong>Professionals from Missouri & Illinoisfought it out in wet conditions at TanglewoodGC in Fulton, MO. Tanglewood,hosting it's first <strong>Gateway</strong> <strong>PGA</strong> event,was in excellent condition and was agreat test for the field. Whitfield, now atMid Rivers Golf Links in St. Peters,carded a bogey free 67 on his way to thechampionship. Winds gusting to 40 mphdidn't seem to slow the <strong>Gateway</strong> <strong>PGA</strong>Pros down much as the Top 10 finisherswere all at par or under par. With 4 birdieson the front 9 and his lone birdie onthe back 9 on number 14, Whitfieldedged JC Anderson (68) by a stroke. Adam Betz of Meadowbrook CC, Mike Suhre of OakBrook GC, andMark Faulkner of Lake of Egypt CC, all tied for third with 3-under par 69's. With Anderson & Faulkner taking2nd and 3rd spots in the Senior Division, the top five was rounded out by Bob Gaus (70) of Tower Tee,Dave Levine (73) of Berry Hill GC, & Brian Fogt (73) of Bellerive CC.Norwood Hills Tops TNT Golf Cars Pro-Superintendent ChallengeIt is always good to have some localknowledge and Norwood Hills Head Pro RyanRoy and Superintendent Mike Null proved thatto be true as they dominated the TNT GolfCars Pro-Superintendent Challenge. Roy &Null teamed up to fire a 10-under par round of59 on Norwood Hills beautiful East Course.With 2 eagles and 6 birdies on their card, theirbogey free round led the field and ended with a7 shot victory over the nearest team. The FallsGC's Head Pro Brian Schmersahl and SuperintendentRob Schaff came home with runner uphonors with a 3-under par round of 66. Eightteams shared 3rd place with 67's. The annualevent was made possible by TNT Golf Carsand Yamaha as the field of 20 teams featuredPros and Superintendents from area clubs inthe <strong>Gateway</strong> <strong>PGA</strong> area.
