THE State Client Consultative Committee (CCC) has had its fi rstmeeting with the elected Committee for 2008.We welcomed Jim Cooney as a representative for South QueenslandCountry and welcomed back John Rynn from Adults South region.We also concluded voting for offi ce bearers and the allocation ofportfolio roles. New trainingopportunitiesfor PrintaboutstaffNOVEMBER saw seven ‘Table Hands’ fromPrintabout Strathpine becoming the fi rst to starta new training initiative towards receiving aCertifi cate II in Business.Training is being facilitated by Margaret Barnesand Associates, with current courses on offerincluding Certifi cate II in business or retail .As part of the training participants will workthrough modules on customer service, usingcomputers and cash handling.The training is part of the new ‘Training Calendar’ thatis open to Printabout supported employees with thegoal of assisting them with their career development.“Every ‘Table Hand’ has the opportunity to undertakethis Certifi cate training. Participants also have theoption of choosing to do one or two modules”, saidPrintabout Service Manager, Wendy Lavelle.“The goal is that over time individuals can apply theskills they have learnt to the day-to-day operations ofthe business.”THE Parents and GuardiansAssociation (PGA) has met regularlythroughout 2007 with a desire toimprove relationships with countryparents in 2008.We intend to develop a plan for2008 and beyond to facilitaterelationships with younger parentsand establish goals for the group,one of which will include developinga new brochure.I was delighted to hear from theProgram Co-ordinator in Townsvilleregarding a parents group therewhich will be meeting in November.I have offered to assist in any waypossible to encourage parents tojoin with the PGA.I note in the service activity reportthat Chermside, Mt Gravatt,Sunshine Coast and Gold Coastchildren’s regions have encouragedparents to meet on a regular basis.This is indeed a step in the rightdirection towards a larger networkof parents meetings.Any groups seeking a copy of theTerms of Reference for the PGAshould call League Head Offi ce atNew Farm.We did manage to hold the picnicin the park even though theweather was extremely wet andwindy.
