SCHOOL UNIFORM POLICYWe are proud to be a school that believes in the value of school uniform. The schooluniform serves to give pupils a sense of identity, a sense of belonging to a community. Ithelps to conceal differences in the financial circumstances of children and excludes somedress competition and excesses of fashion. Parents are urged to work in partnership withthe school to ensure that standards are maintained.Pupils in Years 7-11 are required to wear school uniform at all times. Form Tutors willmake a daily inspection and parents are asked for their full co-operation in ensuring thattheir children are properly equipped.Fashion items such as studded belts and baseball caps are completely banned and will beconfiscated if seen by staff. The new school PE sweatshirt – royal blue with the school name on (GranthamClothing or Kidzone only) Outdoor trainers For rugby and football, boots need to be worn along with plain black football socks andshin pads Gum shield (optional for rugby and hockey)Yr10 pupils can purchase the new school hooded sweatshirt – royal blue with the schoolname on. (GCSE PE pupils already have these with GCSE PE on the back) (GranthamClothing or Kidzone only)SUMMER UNIFORMAt times of extreme heat the Head Teacher will inform pupils when ties and blazers maybe taken off in school. Pupils will be required to remove their blazers and wear protectiveclothing such as aprons during Design and Technology and Art lessons. However, blazersand ties must normally be worn on journeys to and from school and on school trips unlessthe Headteacher has given permission for pupils to wear other suitable attire.JEWELLERYPupils may wear a watch and one set of studs in the ears, but no other jewellery ispermitted due to health and safety issues and liability in case of loss. Therefore if pupilswish to have any part of their body pierced they must arrange this at the beginning of theSummer holidays so that the wound has sufficient time to heal. Plasters may not be wornto cover body jewellery. If pupils disregard this they will be isolated from other pupils untilthey comply with the regulation.HAIRSTYLESHairstyles should not be extreme. Parents should consult, in advance with the Year Leaderif they are unsure as to the suitability of a change of style. The school shall be the arbiterof the term ‘extreme’.Page 4


MAKE-UPFor Health and Safety reasons false nails and nail polish are not permitted. Key Stage 3pupils are not allowed to wear any make up, except in exceptional circumstances whenlight foundation will be permitted to disguise skin complaints. Key Stage 4 pupils areallowed to wear discrete make up. The school shall be the arbiter of the term ‘discrete’.FINANCIAL SUPPORTIn cases of financial hardship parents can appeal to the Headteacher/Governors forfinancial support.
