CommunicationsCalls:Applicant services81,000 +Emails:10,500 +Schools500 +2600 +Sessions:29Attendees:VTAC employs ten customer service contractors and last year theyhandled over ten thousand email enquiries and over eighty thousandphone calls from prospective and existing applicants.Secondary schools liaison servicesIn addition to the customer service area, VTAC also providesprofessional advice on policy and procedures, clarification on systemrules and follow up on institutional issues or concerns. VTAC is theonly tertiary admissions centre to provide all Australian SecondarySchools with direct telephone and email contacts that bypass thegeneric applicant call centre.Information sessionsCareers practitionersEach year VTAC conducts a series of programs for both new andexperienced careers teachers and careers practitioners. The sessionsare held across all major Victorian regions, Canberra and across theborder in South Australia. The topics covered include the four VTACapplications, rules changes, new and updated processes, and VTACinitiatives for careers practitioners such as the Careers Professionalswebsite, which VTAC launched in 2010. The presentations wereavailable for careers practitioners to download and use for their ownschool presentations thereby reaching an even wider audience. In2010 a total of 830 careers practitioners from Victorian secondaryschools and TAFE institutes attended.Parents of VCE studentsWith parents being a significant influence on Year 12 students, VTACdedicates resources to running information sessions specificallyfor parents. The sessions are a cooperative between groups ofschools across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Precedence is givento sessions in regional Victoria. Over the four day period a total of 1442 calls wereanswered. The number of telephone calls is decreasing steadily witheach year.
