The <strong>of</strong>ficer must fill out a <strong>for</strong>m named <strong>Affidavit</strong> <strong>of</strong> Police Officer/Physical <strong>Inspection</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>an</strong> Indi<strong>an</strong>aResident's <strong>Vehicle</strong>/Watercraft - State Form 39530 when completing a VIN inspection.If there is a lien on your out-<strong>of</strong>-state vehicle, the license br<strong>an</strong>ch will assist you in completing a <strong>for</strong>mnamed Request For Out <strong>of</strong> State Title To Perfect A Lien - State Form 1014 which will then be sent toyour vehicle's lienholder in<strong>for</strong>ming them that you are applying <strong>for</strong> <strong>an</strong> Indi<strong>an</strong>a title. Once thelienholder sends the title to the BMV, the BMV will contact you <strong>an</strong>d ask that you return to the licensebr<strong>an</strong>ch to complete your application <strong>for</strong> the Indi<strong>an</strong>a title.The following <strong>for</strong>ms <strong>an</strong>d documents must be completed at the license br<strong>an</strong>ch:For newly-m<strong>an</strong>ufactured vehicles:• Application <strong>for</strong> Certificate <strong>of</strong> Title - State Form 205• Properly assigned Certificate <strong>of</strong> Origin• Con<strong>for</strong>ming Odometer Statement, generally found on the Certificate <strong>of</strong> Origin• Pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> sales tax paid (State Form 48842, also known as ST-108, provided by the dealership)• <strong>Affidavit</strong> <strong>of</strong> Police Officer/Physical <strong>Inspection</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>an</strong> Indi<strong>an</strong>a Resident's <strong>Vehicle</strong>/Watercraft - StateForm 39530 if the vehicle was not purchased in Indi<strong>an</strong>aFor used vehicles:• Application <strong>for</strong> Certificate <strong>of</strong> Title - State Form 205• Properly assigned title• Con<strong>for</strong>ming Odometer Statement• Bill <strong>of</strong> Sale• <strong>Affidavit</strong> <strong>of</strong> Police Officer/Physical <strong>Inspection</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>an</strong> Indi<strong>an</strong>a Resident's <strong>Vehicle</strong>/Watercraft - StateForm 39530 if the vehicle was not purchased in Indi<strong>an</strong>aIndi<strong>an</strong>a residents who purchase a vehicle from <strong>an</strong>other state <strong>an</strong>d pay more th<strong>an</strong> seven percent sales taxwill receive credit from Indi<strong>an</strong>a <strong>for</strong> taxes paid in that other state. If you paid less th<strong>an</strong> seven percentsales tax when you purchased your vehicle in <strong>an</strong>other state, you will need to pay the difference toIndi<strong>an</strong>a. New Indi<strong>an</strong>a residents who have titled their vehicles in <strong>an</strong>other state do not have to pay theseven percent sales tax when they title their vehicles in Indi<strong>an</strong>a.
