MARINE CORPS UNIFORM REGULATIONS<br />

e. Black pumps, dress flats, and oxfords will be worn with the blue<br />

dress, blue-white dress, service and maternity <strong>uniform</strong>s per the following<br />

guidance:<br />

(1) When the skirt is worn as part of the blue dress, blue-white<br />

dress, or service <strong>uniform</strong>, either black pumps or black dress flats will be<br />

worn at the individual's option, except as follows:<br />

(a) If the skirt is worn for drill, parades, and other occasions<br />

that require functional <strong>uniform</strong>ity, oxfords will be the prescribed footwear.<br />

(b) Black pumps will be worn with the blue dress or blue-white<br />

dress <strong>uniform</strong> with skirt for formal occasions. However, flats may be worn by<br />

those engaged in ceremonial details on such occasions at the individual's<br />

option, unless oxfords are prescribed by the Commander.<br />

(c) Oxfords are authorized for wear when a duty involves prolonged<br />

walking or standing, when pumps are considered unsafe, when prescribed for<br />

medical reasons, or when otherwise deemed appropriate by the commander.<br />

However, low-heeled pumps or flats are encouraged when skirts are worn for<br />

duties involving moderate walking or standing.<br />

(2) When slacks are worn as part of the blue dress or service <strong>uniform</strong>,<br />

either black oxfords or black dress flats will be worn at the individual's<br />

option, except that oxfords will be prescribed for drill, parades, and other<br />

occasions which require functional <strong>uniform</strong>ity. When slacks and oxfords are<br />

worn, either dark hose or black socks will be worn at the individual's<br />

option. Dark hose will be worn with slacks and dress flats.<br />

(3) When the maternity service <strong>uniform</strong> with skirt is worn, pumps,<br />

oxfords, or flats will be worn. Oxfords will be worn with the maternity<br />

service <strong>uniform</strong> when slacks are worn.<br />

3013. GLOVES<br />

1. During the winter <strong>uniform</strong> period, Marines will wear/carry black leather,<br />

vinyl, or cloth (females only) gloves when an outer coat is worn with the<br />

service <strong>uniform</strong>. Black gloves may be worn/carried with the service "A"<br />

<strong>uniform</strong> or service <strong>uniform</strong> with sweater or tanker jacket at the individual's<br />

option; however, local commanders will designate whether gloves will be worn<br />

by troops in formation.<br />

2. Marines may wear black gloves with the utility <strong>uniform</strong>.<br />

3. White gloves will be worn or carried with evening dress, blue-dress, or<br />

blue-white dress during summer and winter <strong>uniform</strong> seasons. When an outer<br />

garment is worn during the winter <strong>uniform</strong> seasons, black gloves are worn or<br />

carried. During the summer season, black gloves or worn or carried when the<br />

AWC is worn as the outer garment, and white gloves are worn or carried when<br />

the boat cloak or dress cape is worn as the outer garment.
