2. The above items, unless otherwise noted with an asterisk (*), must bear<br />

the <strong>US</strong>MC approval identification. Items purchased outside the Marine Corps<br />

Supply System that do not bear the <strong>US</strong>MC approved identification are<br />

prohibited, unless otherwise specified herein.<br />

9106. EFFECT OF UNIFORM CHANGES ON LIST OF REQUIRED ITEMS<br />

1. Unless otherwise specified, changes made in officers' <strong>uniform</strong>s/<br />

accessories will not become effective until it is necessary to replace that<br />

particular <strong>uniform</strong> item.<br />

2. Limited standard <strong>uniform</strong> items procured from the Marine Corps Supply<br />

System will satisfy the requirement for any standard item until replacement<br />

is required or until the item is officially declared obsolete and no longer<br />

authorized.<br />

9107. EVENING DRESS UNIFORMS<br />

1. Evening dress <strong>uniform</strong>s are required for the following officers:<br />

a. All officers assigned duty as naval attaches or assistant naval<br />

attaches.<br />

b. All category 1 officers in the grade of major or above.<br />

2. The following officers are not required to possess evening dress<br />

<strong>uniform</strong>s:<br />

a. All company grade officers except those assigned duties outlined<br />

above. Captains who are selected for major will be granted a 120-day grace<br />

period after the effective date of their promotion in which to purchase the<br />

required <strong>uniform</strong>s.<br />

b. Officers stationed outside the continental United States, except when<br />

assigned duties outlined in subparagraph 9106.1a, above (upon transfer to a<br />

duty station within the continental United States, majors will be granted a<br />

120-day grace period in which to procure the <strong>uniform</strong>s).<br />

3. All Regular and Reserve officers are authorized and encouraged to possess<br />

the evening dress <strong>uniform</strong>.<br />
