MARINE CORPS UNIFORM REGULATIONS<br />

3. Organizational clothing/equipment other than authorized above will not be<br />

worn with musical unit <strong>uniform</strong>s unless specifically authorized by the CMC.<br />

6203. REGULATIONS FOR WEAR<br />

1. Except for the U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, blue dress "A"/"B" or<br />

blue-white dress "A"/"B" should normally be prescribed for off-station<br />

functions. When the band is performing in the blue dress <strong>uniform</strong>, and in a<br />

concert setting, it is appropriate for the conductors to wear the evening<br />

dress <strong>uniform</strong>. The musical unit officer will determine which <strong>uniform</strong> is most<br />

appropriate dependent upon the nature of the function.<br />

2. The white military police belt may be prescribed with all service<br />

<strong>uniform</strong>s. Except when prescribed by the commander for wear during Honor<br />

Guard ceremonies, the white military police belt will not be worn with blue<br />

dress/blue-white dress <strong>uniform</strong>s. Commanders may prescribe the wear of the<br />

olive drab pistol/cartridge belts with the utility <strong>uniform</strong> by musicians<br />

during the performance of musical duties.<br />

3. The dress cap will be worn with dress blue or blue-white <strong>uniform</strong>s only.<br />

The service cap or garrison cap will be worn with service <strong>uniform</strong>s.<br />

Organizational or non-regulation headgear will not be worn.<br />

4. Gauntlets will be worn by drum and bugle <strong>corps</strong> members and may be worn by<br />

band drum majors and drummers.<br />

5. Wearing gloves is not mandatory while performing musical duties; however,<br />

white gloves may be prescribed with all <strong>uniform</strong>s except the utility <strong>uniform</strong>.<br />

When white gloves are prescribed, woodwind instrumentalists may wear<br />

sensitized gloves.<br />

6. Band members may wear the music pouch with cover and sling with all<br />

<strong>uniform</strong>s.<br />

7. The sword may be prescribed for band officers and, when approved by the<br />

commander, for drum majors. Drum majors may wear the sword with the blue or<br />

blue-white dress "A" and "B" <strong>uniform</strong>s only. When worn, the sword will remain<br />

in the scabbard at all times.<br />

8. Musical units that require the women's floor length dark blue skirt will<br />

submit a completed measurement form (DD Form 1111) and a funded<br />

document (DD From 1348) citing O&M funds, with Routing Identifier Code MAU to<br />

the Commanding General (855), MCLB, Albany, GA 31704. The floor length sky<br />

blue and white split skirts are authorized for wear by members of the Marine<br />

Band in lieu of the floor length sky blue and white skirts.<br />

9. Unless authorized herein, modifying designated <strong>uniform</strong>s is prohibited.<br />
