MARINE CORPS UNIFORM REGULATIONS<br />

3. Medals, ribbons, and badges adopted by these societies may be worn only<br />

while actually attending meetings or conventions or while participating in<br />

parades or other ceremonies as a member of these organizations.<br />

5104. SENIORITY OF COLORS<br />

1. Based on heraldry, blue, the senior color, will be uppermost and/or to<br />

the wearer's right.<br />

2. Awards which do not have a symmetrical color design, or which have stars<br />

as part of the design, will be worn as follows:<br />

a. Medal of Honor. The stars will form an "M" with the single ray of all<br />

stars pointing up.<br />

b. Navy and Marine Corps Medal. The blue stripe will be to the wearer's<br />

right.<br />

c. Presidential Unit Citation. The blue stripe will be uppermost.<br />

d. Merchant Marine Mariner's Medal. Blue stripe will be to the wearer's<br />

right.<br />

e. World War II Theater/Campaign Medals. The blue stripe in the center<br />

will be to the wearer's right.<br />

f. Navy Occupation Service Medal. Black stripe will be to the wearer's<br />

right.<br />

g. Merchant Marine Combat Medal. The light blue stripe will be<br />

uppermost.<br />

h. Philippine Defense Ribbon. The stars will form a triangle, base down.<br />

i. Philippine Liberation Ribbon. The blue stripe in the center will be<br />

to the wearer's right.<br />

j. Philippine Presidential Unit Citation. Blue stripe will be to the<br />

wearer's right. The ribbon bar is worn with a gold frame.<br />

k. Korean Presidential Unit Citation. The red portion of the circular<br />

device in the center will be uppermost; ribbon bar is worn with a gold frame.<br />

l. Combat Action Ribbon. The large blue field will be to the wearer's<br />

right.<br />

m. Inter-American Defense Board Medal. The red stripe will be to the<br />

wearer's right.<br />

5105. DECORATIONS, MEDALS, RIBBON BARS, AND LAPEL BUTTONS WORN ON CIVILIAN<br />

CLOTHING<br />

1. Decorations, medals, appropriate ribbon bars, or lapel buttons may be<br />

worn on civilian clothes at the individual's discretion, per the guidance
