MARINE CORPS UNIFORM REGULATIONS 4005<br />

k. Chief Warrant Officer, CWO-5. One silver-colored bar of the same<br />

type as for a first lieutenant, with one scarlet enamel stripe superimposed<br />

lengthwise. Shoulder insignia; center enamel stripe is 1/8-inch wide and 1-<br />

1/8 inch long. Collar insignia; center enamel stripe is 1/8-inch wide and<br />

3/4-inch long.<br />

l. Chief Warrant Officer, CWO-4. One silver-colored bar of the same<br />

type as for a first lieutenant, with three scarlet enamel blocks<br />

superimposed. Shoulder insignia; center enamel block is 1/4 inch wide, with<br />

1/8 inch wide outer blocks, 1/4 inch from the edges of the center block.<br />

Collar insignia; center enamel block is 5/32 inch wide, with 3/32 inch wide<br />

outer blocks, 5/32 inch from the edges of the center block.<br />

m. Chief Warrant Officer, CWO-3. One silver-colored bar of the same<br />

type as for a CWO-4, with two scarlet enamel blocks superimposed. Shoulder<br />

insignia blocks are 3/8-inch wide and 1/4-inch apart. Collar insignia;<br />

blocks are 1/4-inch wide and 5/32-inch apart.<br />

n. Chief Warrant Officer, CWO-2. One gold-colored bar of the same type<br />

as for a second lieutenant, with three scarlet enamel blocks arranged in the<br />

same manner as for a CWO-4.<br />

o. Warrant Officer, WO-1. One gold-colored bar of the same type as for<br />

a CWO-2, with two scarlet enamel blocks arranged in the same manner as for a<br />

CWO-3.<br />

3. Insignia Placement. (See figs. 4-11, 4-13, 4-14 and 4-15, 4-16.)<br />

a. Metal grade insignia will be worn on all <strong>uniform</strong>s except for the<br />

evening dress jacket. Evening dress jacket insignia will be embroidered,<br />

either directly on the shoulder straps, or on dark blue cloth stitched to the<br />

shoulder straps.<br />

>Ch 3 b. Shoulder grade insignia will be placed on each shoulder strap of<br />

dress jackets, dress/service coats, the AWC, the tanker jacket and field coat<br />

in the manner described below. Shoulder grade insignia will not be worn on<br />

the service or dress blue sweater.<br />

(1) All officers will wear their insignia so that it is equidistant<br />

from the front and rear edges of the shoulder straps. Colonels and below<br />

will position their insignia so that the midpoint of the insignia's outer<br />

edge is 3/4 inch from the armhole seam.<br />

(2) General officers' stars will be worn equally spaced between the<br />

armhole seam and the shoulder strap button or edge of the collar, whichever<br />

is closer. One ray of each star points toward the collar.<br />

(3) Colonels' eagles will be worn with the wings at right angles to<br />

the center line of the shoulder strap with the eagle's head toward the collar<br />

and facing front.<br />

(4) Field grade oak leaves will be worn with the stem toward the<br />

armhole seam.<br />
