From . . .BrotherRON DALYPresident Province 21The Catenian AssociationElected Vice-President on the 19 th April!!!Promoted to Province President on 6 th May!!! Quite a rapid rise!!!Hello to all my fellow Brothers and families of our Province. Following the resignation ofProvincial Director John Secker our Provincial President Paul Despoges has accepted theposition of Provincial Director. Along with the Catenian family I wish Paul much success andsatisfaction as he represents us in the UK.As mentioned I attended the Province Council meeting in April and was able to meet with theCouncillors from the Circles represented at that meeting. I appreciate the expressions ofsupport that were offered to me and I look forward to working with your councillors to progressour Association. I was able to meet with Myles Hannan from Canberra Circle and Peter Cashfrom Cairns (already a legendary publicity officer) both of whom obviously travel long distancesto attend the Council meetings. There have been two new Brothers elected to your Council,Peter Moriarty from Parramatta and Laurie de Ambrosis from Manly who have replaced PhilRusso and Terry Hayes each from the respective Circles. Terry & Phil have served ourAssociation well and their participation has been much appreciated. A new Provincial TreasurerPeter Gialouris, City of Sydney, has filled the shoes of Ian McMaster who has handed over theTreasury to Peter; Ian has managed the intricacies of Capitation Fees and exchange rates withdedication and skill, a job well done Ian.The second Australia Conference is to be held in Perth as previously announced from Fridaythe 1 st of Oct to Sunday the 3 rd . Brother Paul has requested that we should try to achieve atleast a representative of each Circle and I would certainly endorse that ideal. Brothers wouldbe aware that to minimize the cost Brothers from Province 20 have offered to billet thoseEastern Staters who can make the trip across the Nullarbor. To facilitate points of discussionand agenda items Pat Moran has convened a workshop for Saturday 5 th June which along withMembership initiatives there will be discussion on agenda items for the Conference. I would likethe secretaries of our Province to forward Pats e-mail to all members as Pat has presented awell researched paper which should enable considered and thoughtful discussion to carry usforward to the Perth Conference. As I write this epistle Mothers Day is approaching and I would wish that all Mothers have ahappy and fulfilling day with their families. In the last Eastern Link, and Catena April 2010, bothreported on an address that Amanda Hickey gave to the Pittwater Circle. I quote just a smallexcerpt, “The common band of our Catholic faith draws us when opportunities like this ariseinto strong friendship with feelings of love and concern and interest”. Thanks Amanda andAmen to that.May the Faith of all of us continue to grow through our AssociationFraternallyRonEASTERN LINK NEWSLETTER 3 JUNE 2010
