Printer & KV RoutingThe printing system of an SPS-500 register or system of registers is completely flexible. Up to 40 printers canbe defined and connected to any available serial port on any register within a system. Multiple printerfunctions can be assigned to the same printer, giving added flexibility. The internal printer (single station) onthe SPS-530 and the receipt/journal printers on the SPS-520 can be defined in the same manner as externalprinters and can receive data from other registers in the same network.1. Before programming here, you must first:See "Define Port" in S Mode Programming to define the type of device (i.e. printer or kitchen video)that is connected to a serial port and to match the baud rate/parity/etc. between the serial port and theprinter. This program also controls the feed lines before and after printing, the logo size, and cuttingoptions.See "Printer Driver Selections" if you are using a printer other than the printers with predefineddrivers, or if you need to customize a driver for a printer.2. Next, assign a port for each printer. Select SYSTEM PRINTER CONFIGURATON to assign theprinter number (1-40), give it a 10 character descriptor (i.e. salad prep, receipt, or detail) and identify theport # and the register # to which it is attached. In addition, you can identify a back-up location forinformation designated to go to the printer.
