Amanda Nikole Helms, 27Houst<strong>on</strong>4/2/2006Amanda was strangled to death by her boyfriend, Gregory Carl Manning, 26. According topolice, Manning called police from Abilene to say he had killed his girlfriend during anargument and told them where to find her body. He was arrested and charged with thecrime. Amanda was six m<strong>on</strong>ths pregnant.Kimberly Hewitt, 43Houst<strong>on</strong>5/1/2006Kimberly was shot to death in her home by her husband. According to police, Kimberly'shusband pulled the trigger and killed her instantly. He then called 911. He was taken intocustody and charged with the crime. There were three teenage children in the houseduring the incident.S<strong>on</strong>ia Jimenez, 35Houst<strong>on</strong>7/31/2006S<strong>on</strong>ia was stabbed to death, in the parking lot of an apartment complex by her estranged husband,Leandro Jimenez, 38. He also abducted her 3-year-old daughter. According to police, the couple had ahistory of domestic violence.Unknown Wife, 26Jacinto City10/23/2006She was stabbed to death by her husband, Mohammad Rafi, 27, at her place of work. Coworkerstold police Rafi had threatened to kill his wife in the past. Rafi was killed by policeafter a standoff at the store where his wife worked.Melissa Slamen, 19Houst<strong>on</strong>9/29/06Melissa was shot to death in her home. According to police, they resp<strong>on</strong>ded to a dischargeof firearms call and found Melissa suffering from a gunshot wound. Neighbors toldpolice, they saw a car leaving the locati<strong>on</strong>. Police later determined she had been shot by her boyfriend.Page 15 of 27
