ManifestoI, Saurabh Suryavanshi, standing for the post of General Secretary, if elected, propose to do thefollowing:-ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:- As a member of Hostel General Secretary's Committee (HGSC) and Hostel MaintenanceCommittee (HMC), I will advocate the interest of the hostel at institute level- Ensure efficient usage of hostel funds and take care of the appropriate allocation of budget toeach department of council- Extend my full support to the council and ensure their smooth functioning- Conduct at least one GBM, ABM every semester and one council meeting every month- Make sure that the points to be raised in the HGSC and HMC are discussed with the hostelinmates whenever required and that the minutes of these meetings are mailed to the hostel inmatesand are also put up on the noticeboard- Ensure the proper organization of Hostel orientation, PAF, Valedictory Function and Awards- Ensure that all intras and institute level events are extensively publicized. Will make sure that anotice board is put up near hall manager’s office immediately.- Introduce a PG nominee for proper PG representationSPORTS AND CULTURAL:-Will ensure that hostel is represented properly in all institute level events-Look for proper scheduling and proper notification about all the events-Will continue hostel weekend to involve more people in hostel scene. Introduce informal eventslike arm wrestling, mock rock etc. with attractive prizes.-Conduct maximum intras with dual purpose for increasing bonding and developing new talents.- Ensure that events and workshops are conducted throughout the year to maintain a livelyenvironment in hostel- Will restart the concept of hostel outing in the form of Movie, Trek, Picnic etc.MESS:- Will make sure that tap is kept on complaints and ensure they are addressed immediately- Constantly keep a watch on the brands of the products used by the caterer, the quality of the foodand also the hygiene of the workers- Conduct one gala dinner and one party every semester. Will try to mix them with impromptuevents like movie screening, board games etc.- Ensure that mess referendum and mess com meeting are conducted regularly- Will push the use of biometric system as a step towards pay per meal and efficient count ofstudents using messMAINTENANCE:-Get garden developed besides C-wing and near Wardens Office-Make sure that all services like printer shop, Washer man run efficiently-Will get internal extension of canteen done either in december or in summer- Will see to it that all maitainence related complaints are handled efficiently- Will see to it that the Laundromat started as soon as possible

COMPUTER ROOM AND WEB:-Will Promote use of hostel Facebook Page for immediate dispense of information-Will put up manifestos of entire council on hostel page and update the work done by individualmember after each meeting on website.-Get Wifi Installed in Comp room and see to it that computer room is available throughout year-Promote E-database of all hostel events. Will try to get it available through FTP server.-Ensure that hostel website is updated and a good repo is established between computer counciland other councils for efficient sharing of dataALUMNI:- Coordinate with SARC in generating funds for our hostel through HATS and also to organize thehostel alumni day-Will pitch new initiatives which could be taken up by alumni after sufficient brainstorming andincluding suggestions form hostel inmatesINITIATIVES:- Make sure that a full-fledged tech room is set up with required equipment.- Will initiate cementing of ground behind A-wing for multipurpose use- Start Passing-out database and verification of hostel activities by warden- Introduction of Vacuum cleaners, Press Iron etc. for issue against I-card. Make sure thatstudent’s suggestions are included to introduce for items in this list.- Will get a punching bag installed in hostel, provide boxing gloves. Will conduct at least oneworkshop.- See that hot water is made available inside the bathrooms by getting piping done and alsogetting solar powered water heaters installed form institute- Will develop the warden’s room into conference room- Will get a Wi-Fi installed in new lounge. Will allocate sufficient fund and planning to makenew lounge a good experienceCREDENTIALS:-Warden Nominee, Hostel – 8, 2011-12-Maintenance Secretary, 2009-2010, received organizational special mention-Received two PAF special mention and one PAF colour-Part of Inter-IIT hockey team-Institute Student Mentor (Year 2011-12 and Year 2012-13)
