Each of these labels communicates a fraction ofthe Essence, though each is misleading in some ways.The Current - the empirically relevant manifestation of the Masterwithin the world of phenomena. The Current is twofold, with theSatanic being the nature of the world as hostility/adversity, and theLuciferian being the thrust towards betterment/enlightenment.The Black Flame - the manifestation of the Current within anindividuated consciousness. It would be akin to the indwelling spiritof Christianity, or the atman of Hinduism.The Work - the transformation of the self through the manifestationand cultivation of the Black Flame. The magickal enterprise ofbetterment and expansion of consciousness and also the emergenceof a personally relevant creativity expressing the Current within theworld.The Pact - the individual’s dedication to the Work within one’s ownpersonal sphere of manifestation. Sacramentally similar to baptism,it can be either internally reinforced, or the focus of an official ritual
