troubleshoot line of sight problems. Contact OmniSTAR for furtherinformation on this service. OmniSTAR contact information is providedin Appendix C of this manual.1.5.2.3 OmniSTAR ReceptionThe OmniSTAR service broadcasts at a similar frequency to GPS, andas a result, is a line of sight system. There must be a line of sightbetween the antenna and the OmniSTAR satellite for reception of theservice. The OmniSTAR service uses geostationary satellites forcommunication. The elevation angle to these satellites is dependentupon latitude. For latitudes higher than approximately 55° North orSouth, the OmniSTAR signal may be blocked more easily byobstructions such as trees, buildings, terrain, or other objects.1.5.2.4 OmniSTAR CoverageFigure 1-5 shows approximate OmniSTAR service coverage. Regionswithout coverage, or with poor coverage are shown with dark shading. Please note that signal coverage may be present in some areaswithout reference stations within the region. Operating outside of thereference station network may cause the applicability of the correctiondata to be less, resulting in a lower degree of positioning accuracy dueto spatial decorrelation.DGPS MAX Reference Manual 14
