Short description of company
The Polymer Competence Center Leoben GmbH (PCCL) is a cooperative, non-university research company
based in Leoben with offices in Graz and Wels with an emphasis on plastics engineering and the polymer
sciences.
The PCCL was founded as part of the Kplus program started by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Transport,
Innovation and Technology. Within this program, the PCCL has entered into medium-term cooperations with
approx. 40 industrial and academic partners. As a non-competitive, industrial research company, PCCL
contributes to the continuous development and implementation of scientific knowledge in plastics engineering,
polymer science and related fields.
Goals of the PCCL are to increase the transfer of knowledge to industry through projects with academic and
industry partners, to continually develop and increase research expertise in the center and with partners and to
increase the competitiveness of its partners.
Research activities which extend beyond the scope of the Kplus program, such as contractual research, are
carried out within the Non-Kplus business area. Since the Kplus funding is due to run out in 2009 at the latest,
PCCL aims to increase Non-Kplus activities to 30% in the midterm.
