Notice : SGMExisting41(b)In each year, not later than the last working day of January, theSecretary General shall send to each Corporate Member on the roll ofthe Institution, a list (directory) of the Corporate members in goodstanding and entitled for nomination(s) as on 31st December of theprevious year. Annual Report 2011-12Dear MembersI have immensepleasure in presenting the58th Annual Report of theInstitution for the year2011- 2012. I will shortlybe completing mytenure of two years asPresident IETE. In fact, theperiod has been so hectic and eventful that itappears to have been rather short. During thisperiod we saw great accomplishments,confronted new challenges, and refined ourapproach pattern. It was very frantic, butenormously satisfying. I am happy with mypersonal contribution and overall participation inthe IETE events and meetings. I am grateful forthe support and the insight of my fellow CouncilMembers as we all together ploughed our waythrough the enormous agenda.While highlighting through this report theimportant activities of the Institution, I also takethe opportunity to cover in this report someimportant initiatives, statistical profile ofMembers, Students, details of seminars,conferences, workshops, organized during theperiod. I commend the senior members andstudents of IETE for their support and activeparticipation in earning the respect, which ourorganization commands today in the society.StudentsKeeping in mind my pledge for the studentmembers as President of this institution, Ifocused on what was best for the students. Moreavenues were provided to broaden theirparticipation, efforts were intensified inimproving our efficiency to ensure that learnersanticipate and adapt to an ever changing worldwith new technologies, global competition andexpectations. We served our members throughwell maintained IETE website and socialnetworking capabilities. We also strived for abroader student base and encouraged allmembers to provide advice and ideas. I hadpromised myself to be part of the team and worktogether for the betterment of students, whichdefinitely has provided good results. We at IETEdo realize that our task of providing educationbecomes all the more demanding because of itsimpact on engineering fraternity. We therefore,are in a never ending process of upgradation ofour courses by introducing job-oriented, marketdriven and innovative concepts. The Institution isserving selflessly with concerted efforts of ourmembers for a noble cause.It is a matter of great pride that this year wewitnessed an overwhelming number of studentsgraduate from IETE. No doubt, it was the largestnumber of students, who have qualified at anyone graduation. I wish to congratulate all ourgraduates and those who could not attend theconvocation ceremony for various reasons, fortheir hard work and commitment. I urge you tocontinue learning and keep the name of youralma mater high. Please continue improving andchallenging yourself. I earnestly hope that all IETEgraduates / postgraduates or diploma holders dowell in their professional journey. My advicewould be to analyze your strengths andweaknesses and remain dedicated to your field.This year’s IETE Alumni Association gatheringwas held in June 2012. I was happy to know aboutour alumni’s sincere thoughts and their feedbackon what they cherished about IETE and what theywould like to see it become over the next decade.It speaks volumes about their concern for theiralma mater. Their insight has been invaluable andI thank all of them for maintaining strong tieswhich are crucial to the Institution today.IETE’s proud history of providing education tothose who otherwise would not have the accessto it, has been the essence of its educational5

mission since inception. The institution has madetremendous strides in this direction by servingmostly the less privileged section of the students.But there is still so much to do. Hence, ourcentral agenda always remains improvement instudent’s activities including reforms in thesyllabi, guidance classes and celebration ofoccasions related to them. Students are beingprovided necessary guidance, lab practicethrough classes at the Centres. The practice ofholding students interactive sessions duringevents like Governing Council meetings, Mid-Term Symposia and Annual TechnicalConventions is consistently followed. Theproblems of students are listened to during thesesessions and prompt action is taken to mitigatetheir difficulties.For promoting research, it has been decidedto increase the research scholarships fromexisting support of ` 15,000/- to ` 16,000/-perstudent per month. The stipend amount forhigher studies in MTech for IETE students hasalso been increased from the current amount of` 8,000/- to ` 10,000/- per student/ per monthand also the number of stipends from 2 to 4.The IETE Students’ Day celebration, whichwas institutionalized last year in 2011 wascelebrated this year also on 01 Feb 2012 withgreat zeal and fervor at most of the IETE Centres/Sub-Centres and Students’ Forums in thecountry. The activities of the Centres have beencovered extensively and reported in IETENewsletter Vol 14 No 1 Jan-Feb 2012 issue.Various activities like sports, quiz, groupdiscussions, poster competition, project displaysand singing competitions were arranged toencourage an equitable balance betweenacademics and extracurricular engagements. Iam glad to say that students showcased theirabilities in all areas and this has definitely helpedin generating a technical competitiveenvironment amongst them. I, myself visitedIETE Delhi and Trivandrum Centres during IETEStudent’s Day celebrations and witnessed theoverwhelming response from the students.Keeping pace with the initiatives taken duringlast year, the results of Dec 2011 and June 2012IETE examinations were declared ahead ofscheduled time to facilitate the students in theiradmission plans. Online admissions have shownencouraging trends. Last year we enrolled nearly4500 students. The student members are takingadvantage of online payment facilities forexamination and other activities too. The oldsyllabus for DipIETE was discontinued during Jun2011 examinations and those left with fewsubjects in the old syllabus were given a specialopportunity to appear in special examinationheld in Oct 2011.This examination did provide agood opportunity to a large chunk of students toclear their diploma course. Similarly, a specialexamination is being conducted in Oct 2012 forold scheme AMIETE Students.We took a lead in online transmission ofquestion papers of AMIETE course to our Centres,which was very successful during Dec 2011 &June 2012 examinations.This year, we also saw entry of students in thedual degree and integrated courses of IETEprogrammes, which is enabling the studentmembers to complete their courses in short timeand at affordable fees.IETE Newsletter and IETE Journal ofEducation now publish more student relatedinformation including ISF activities. IETETechnical Review stands first in Indian technicaljournals in terms of citation of papers publishedin the journal during last three years.IETE lectures have been uploaded on Youtubeand are accessible to everybody in anycorner of the world. We continue to transmit liveand recorded lectures through our Edusat Centreat Noida for the benefit of our students atdifferent Centres. We also webcast manytechnical programmes and live talks from thevenue and these can be simultaneously watchedon IETE website by members sitting anywhere inthe world. Members and students are kept6

informed through updated IETE website aboutvarious activities. This allows easier access toMembers/learners/prospective learners forobtaining information about various aspects ofIETE.I wish to express my thanks and deepappreciation to all the Centres and the outgoingCommittee Members for ensuring the smooth,free, fair and credible conduct of ExecutiveCommittee elections, this year. I welcome thenew teams and hope that they play theirsignificant role in improving the performance oftheir Centres. IETE is also proposing to shift overto online voting system at HQ and its Centresfrom the next year. It will be necessary for allCorporate Members to intimate their contactinformation, e-mail Ids and telephone/ mobilenumbers to update IETE data bank and help usserve them better.During the last 59 years, this Institution hascontributed significantly to the techno-economicgrowth of the country by providing qualityengineers, who are functioning in the industry invarious capacities both in India and abroad. Butwe are happy that IETE now plans to extendconsultancy services to industry for training inthe use of new technologies and build humanresources for the corporate sector. Under thiscollaborative programme we organized anIndustry-Interactive Meet at our newly openedIETE Ambala Sub-Centre during March 2012.This meet emphasized on the need for stronginterface between Institutes & Industry forinnovation and inclusive growth. It proved to bequite fruitful in terms of completion of projectundertaken by IETE Ambala Sub-Centre incollaboration with local industry and institutions.I am proud to inform all IETE members thatthe Government of India has extended itsrecognition for IETE as a premier institution ofScientific and Industrial Research Organizationfor a period of another three years. IETE has alsobeen notified as an institution of nationaleminence.In 2013, the institution will be celebrating itsdiamond jubilee year, the 60 years of its journey.And it’s time for us to introspect and assess ourstrengths and weaknesses and initiate innovativemeasures to sustain our glorious legacy, whilecontinuously attaining new heights in thecompetitive requirements of technicaleducation.Friends, IETE has been taking themes on new& emerging technologies of topical interest in allit’s seminar, meetings, forums and workshops,which I think, is the need of the hour. As we allknow that 21st century is the century ofknowledge and knowledge is the base of allprogress and development. We should in oursincere endeavour try to reach out through ourprogrammes and empower the nation’s youth.We held number of technical events during thispast year benefitting a large number ofparticipants with fairly enthusiastic response.Expanding our outreach, we have added five (05)IETE Centres each at Surat, Jalandhar, Kozhikode,Amity University, Noida and Kolhapur. We hopethis will improve access and quality support tolearners in their studies. I wish to record ourgratitude for the valuable services and supportrendered by the office bearers from theseCentres. The noteworthy contribution of theCentre Chairpersons always deserves mentionand I look forward with confidence to a brightfuture for all these new Centres.Under media and publicity initiatives, aninterview was given on Lok Sabha Channel, underthe programme ‘Career Cafe’ for the benefit ofengineering students. The activities of IETE werehighlighted through interviews taken byDoordarshan at Jalandhar, Thiruvanathapuram,Pune, Amity University, Noida, Ahemdabad andmany other places in the country. Scrolling ofIETE advertisements were given on DD Channelsin the states of Gujarat and Kerala. IETE alsoparticipated in Education Fair 2012 at PragatiMaidan, New Delhi, during 11-13 May 2012. Theresponse was satisfactory. For Student7

membership drive we took help of electronic andprint media. The advertisements for studentswere published in regional / local newspapersand Junior Science Refresher magazine. Postersand information brochure were released in bulkto number of Centres/ Sub-Centres. We alsopublished excerpts of various newspaperscovering IETE technical activities held in theregion in our bi-monthly newsletters.CentresCentres of IETE are our great strength.Regular funds are provided to Centres for upgradationof infrastructure, updating oflaboratories and for other requirements. Centresare encouraged to undertake more and moretechnical programmes of relevance to ourmembers and students.New Centres• IETE Surat Sub-Centre was inaugurated on24th Jan 2012. Surat is one of the mostprogressive cities of Gujarat. Therefore, itwas decided to open a Sub-Centre of IETE.The Centre is functioning very well.• IETE Jalandhar Sub-Centre was inauguratedon 22nd Feb 2012 at IT Park, Dr B R AmbedkarNIT. The areas of Kolhapur, Sangli, Miraj,Islampur, Jaisingpur, Karad and Satara willfall under its jurisdiction.Contact ProgrammesDuring the year many Centres organizedcoaching/contact programmes for the benefit ofthe students. Students were also able to do theirlab practice at laboratories set up in most of theCentres.Best Centre(s) AwardThe Committee of the Governing Council isevaluating the reports received from Centres/Sub-Centres for the first and second Best CentresAwards as well as first and second Best Sub-Centre Awards. The Awards for the current yearwill be announced at the 55th Annual TechnicalConvention (ATC) at Bangalore.Technical Programmes at CentresThe Centres observed the 2nd Student’s Day,44th World Telecommunication & InformationSociety Day and 58th IETE Foundation Day byarranging lectures, seminars and workshops.Zonal Seminar is one of the important features ofour Centres and is held at designated Centre ineach of the four zones. This year the ZonalSeminars have been very successfully held atNavi Mumbai in West Zone, Chennai in SouthZone and Ranchi in the East Zone. The themeswere of latest technology and of topical interest.The speakers from the concerned fields wereinvited to deliver the lectures on the decidedtopics. During these seminars, meets of theoffice bearers of various Centres in respectivezone are convened, where in the problems andachievements of the Centres are deliberated forbenefit of all our members. These also help increating a healthy and congenial relationshipbetween members of various Centres. With aview to upkeep our technical and professionalstandards and also to share the expertise in ourrespective domains, our Centres, hold technicalseminars, workshops and tutorials. The IETE HQprovides grant to the Centres to encourage suchactivities in this field. The detailed technicalprogrammes organized by the Centres are listed,separately in the report.8

IETE Professional Activity CentreDuring the year under review, a 10thProfessional Activity Centre (PAC) & an IETEStudents’ Forum was opened at Amity University,Noida, on 20th Dec 2011, which subsequentlyupgraded to Sub-Centre on 20th July 2012.FinanceThe total assets of the Institution haveincreased from `33.93 crores to `38.20 croresi.e. by `4.27 crores during the financial year2011-12 as against `2.76 crores in the previousfinancial year. During this year there has been arevenue surplus of `188 lacs as against a revenuesurplus of `65 lacs in the previous financial year.Auditor’s ReportThe Auditor’s Report along with thestatement of accounts for the year ended 31March 2012 is appended to this report.InfrastructureWe have continued to lay emphasis oncreation of additional infrastructure at variousCentres. In order to ensure the smooth conductof examinations through e-transmission ofquestion papers, the Centres were providedfinancial assistance for purchase of equipment.The Centres have also been sanctioned grants toprocure laboratory equipment and additionalhardware/software for the benefit of thestudents. The details of the buildings which havebeen acquired/constructed during the year areas under:-• Delhi: Constructed of an additional floor at atotal cost of `31.65 lacs has been completedand capitalized during the year. The Centrehas also installed a lift at their building duringthe year.• Palakkad: The Centre has been able toacquire the second floor of the existingbuilding at a total cost of `21.69 lacs duringthis financial year.• Hyderabad: The Centre has been allotted`18 lacs for providing a lift in the Centrebuilding and the work is in progress.• Kakinada: The Centre was earlier allotted aplot by the JNTU University, Kakanada. TheCentre has already taken steps to construct abuilding consist of two floors at an estimatedtotal cost of `45 lacs. The HQ IETE hassanctioned an amount of `22.50 lacs.• Mumbai: The Centre has been sanctioned anamount of `15 lacs by HQ IETE against thetotal estimated cost of `19.75 lacs towardsconstruction of an additional floor in theexisting building.• Allahabad: The Centre was allotted anamount of `2.50 lacs against the estimatedtotal cost of `6 lacs towards converting theearlier meeting hall into a properauditorium.Income Tax ExemptionThe Institution was granted exemptionunder the sub clause (iv) of clause 23 (c) ofSection 10 of the Income Tax Act 1961 from theAssessment Year 2009-10 and onwards. In viewof this exemption, no provision for Income Tax onthe surplus generated were made in theaccounts.Honorary Fellows- 2011-12I am proud to announce that the GoverningCouncil decided in its meeting held in July 2012to confer the Honorary Fellowship of IETE on Dr VK Saraswat, Scientific Adviser to Raksha Mantri,Secretary Defence, R&D and DG, DRDO, for theyear 2011-12. The conferment of HonoraryFellowship will take place during inauguralthsession of 55 Annual Technical Convention atth thBangalore on 29 -30 Sept 2012.Life Time Achievement Award-2012Prof R P Shenoy, Distinguished Scientist,DRDO and Distinguished Fellow IETE had beenselected for Life Time Achievement Award -2012.I am extremely sad to inform you about passingaway of Prof Shenoy in August 2012, who wasalso the Past Chairman of IETE Bangalore Centreand recipient of many coveted national awards.9

Distinguished Fellows- 2011-12The two Distinguished Fellows elected forthe year 2011-2012 are Prof (Dr) M Basavarajand Maj Gen K B Jhaldiyal, AVSM (Retd). I feelvery sad to inform about sad demise of Maj GenK B Jhaldiyal, AVSM (Retd), who was theDistinguished Fellow of IETE, elected for theGoverning Council (2012-15) and served IETE fora successful tenure of seven years as SecretaryGeneral (1996-2003).ExaminationsDec 2011 examinations were conductedsuccessfully at 42 Centres. The total number ofstudents appeared in Dec 2011 examinationwere 11476 and 11057 students applied for June12 examinations. June 2012 examination hasbeen conducted at 41 centers successfully.Since June 2011 examination was the lastexamination with old syllabi of DipIETE, onespecial examination was conducted in Oct 2011to give benefit to the students who couldn’tcomplete their respective courses. 434 studentshad appeared and 352 students completedDipIETE in this special examination. Similarly aspecial examination is being conducted in Oct2012 for old scheme AMIETE Students.Last year in December 2011, 441 studentscompleted AMIETE and 118 students completedDipIETE examinations. The result of December2011 and June 2012 exam was declared ahead ofschedule.IETE Convocation for graduates and postgraduates was held on 25 Nov 2011 successfully.The Chief Guest on this occasion this year wasProf R K Shevgaonkar, Director IIT Delhi. AMIETEdegrees were conferred on 375 students andALCCS degrees were awarded to 04 students.Dual Programme for non IETE students hasstarted from June 2012 onwards.The fifth session of EduSat Lecturescompleted on 2nd June 2012.IETE Students’ Forum (ISF)Our Centres make continuous endeavor toopen new ISFs in their jurisdiction, in otherengineering colleges and polytechnics to take theengineering students under the fold of IETE.After completion of their education, they areencouraged to become Corporate Members ofIETE (AMIETE). There has been a quantumgrowth in ISFs enrolment at various Centres and Iam glad to inform you that at present there are537 ISFs in the country having a student’sstrength of 42, 585. The activities of our Centresand ISFs are regularly published in our bimonthlynewsletter for the information andbenefit of our esteemed members.Technical Programmes by HQ IETEWe have arranged a number of programmesat IETE HQ which were attended by large numberof our members, professionals and industrialists.We organized 54th Annual TechnicalConvention of IETE on “ICT in RuralDevelopment” during 24-25 Sep 2011 atAhmedabad. The 16th Sir C V RamanMemorial Lecture on, “Advance QuantumElectrical Metrology” was organized on 28th Feb2012 at IETE Hqs, New Delhi and Prof R CBudhani, Director, National Physical Laboratory,New Delhi, delivered the Memorial Lecture.43rd Mid-Term SymposiumThe Mid-Term Symposium is anotherimportant activity of IETE, wherein topics onvarious burning issues in the field of telecom andinformation Technology are discussed in order toshare the knowledge, exchange ideas and makesuitable strategies for benefit of commonmasses. The IETE Journals arenow available online. The response to thejournals has been phenomenal. IETE journals areable to attract authors, reviewers and editorsfrom the top most institutions across the world.There has also been a substantial increase in thesubscription for IETE Journals by institutions,colleges, industries and libraries, both nationaland international.The ARP wing processes it totally online andthe authors/editors and members can view theprogress of articles online in a most transparentmanner. Our members of Board of Editors are ofhigh repute from prestigious institutions andimpact factor of our journals is quite impressive.AwardsThe IETE recognizes outstanding achievementsof its members and other professionals inthe broad areas of electronics, telecommunication,computers and related disciplinesthrough annual/biennial awards. Awards andrecognitions play a vital role in encouraging theprofessionals and also in improving the visibilityof the Institution. IETE confers twenty oneawards for outstanding achievements, eightcorporate awards for excellence of performance,eight awards for best technical articles publishedin our journals and fifty four awards for IETEstudent members for academic excellence invarious examinations besides three prizes forbest technical papers for the IETE Technical PaperContest.To make the existing procedure for selectionof Awardees for IETE Awards more transparent,fair and systematic, we have constituted a ‘Jury ofExperts’ for each award. This Jury consisting offive experts from reputed Institution/Universities/Engineering Organizations, isselected on the basis of their subject expertise,academic/research and managerial experience.13

The Jury discuss each award application vis-à-visits norms and give their independentrecommendations on the selection of nomineesof each award to BoRE.The nomination forms for IETE main and IETECorporate Awards are regularly reviewed toincorporate transparent, fair and non-partisanprocedures. The Board of Recognition ofExcellence (BoRE) and the selected fivespecialists of the concerned discipline processthe received nominations and give theirindependent recommendations in favour ofoutstanding nominees. Thereafter, therecommendations of the Member of BoRE andthe specialists are recorded and processed.Based on the merit, an awardee is selected forrecognition of excellence in the field ofdevelopments. Lectures by awardees areorganized at IETE Centres nearest to the locationof the awardee. To give wider publicity to attractgood response to IETE awards, “Call forNominations” is published in Nov-Dec and Jan-Feb issues of IETE Journal of Research andTechnical Review. Auditor’s ReportSCHEDULE-22ACCOUNTING POLICIES & NOTES TO FINANCIAL ACCOUNTSA. ACCOUNTING POLICIES(a) Basis of Preparation of Financial Statements:Financial statements are prepared on accrual method of accounting under the Historical Cost Convention inaccordance with the Accounting Standards issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India asadopted consistently, unless otherwise stated.(b) Fixed AssetsFixed assets are stated at the cost of Acquisition less Accumulated Depreciation. Direct costs are capitalizedtill the assets are ready to be put to use.(c) DepreciationDepreciation on fixed assets is provided on written down value method in the manner and as per the ratesprescribed in the Income Tax Act, 1961. Any addition to fixed assets used for less than 180 days aredepreciated at 50% of their prescribed rate.(d) Various fund/reserve accounts reflect the following:(i) Permanent Reserve: This Reserve represents the sum of all utilized funds, out of transfers fromBuilding Fund, Library Fund, Laboratory Fund, General Fund and Income & Expenditure accounts.(ii) Capital Reserve: This is a Corpus Fund and only Capital receipts including Admission/Application/Registration and Building-cum-Lab fee received from Corporate & Student members is credited tothis account. This fund, to the extent utilized, is transferred to Permanent Reserve and the amountpaid to centres is reduced there from and transferred to respective branches who in turn credit it totheir respective Capital reserve account and on utilization transfer the same to Permanent Reserve.However, w.e.f financial year 2007-08, 25 % of Admission/Application/ Building cum-Library fee hasbeen earmarked towards student activity fund to meet expenses like Library Grant to Centres,Convocation expenses, expenses on interaction session with office bearers of Centres/sub centres,printing of Lab Manuals. The balance in the fund is to be utilised for development of Physical &Information Technology Infrastructure.(iii) General Fund: This fund represents the accumulated surplus of income over expenditure sinceinception.(iv) Prize Funds: This fund represents the amounts received from the approved donors towardsinstitution of various awards and prizes. The awards and prizes are given from the amount of interestearned on such investments.(v) Building Fund: This fund is being accumulated by transfers from Income & Expenditure Account,General Fund, Capital Reserve, Donation received; Interest earned on earmarked investments and isutilized for acquiring/constructing Institution’s Buildings and/or for effecting major repairs/renovations on them.(vi) Library Fund: This fund is being accumulated at the centres out of transfer from General Fund,Income & Expenditure Accounts and from Grant given by the Institution for the purpose of creatinglibraries at the centres.(vii) Research Funds: The Institute has constituted two Research Funds IETE-IRSI Research and IETE-TTLResearch Fund with a view to support/conduct specialized Research study in the field of Science andTechnology.(viii) Golden Jubilee Building Fund: The Institute had constituted a Golden Jubilee Building Fund in theGolden Jubilee year for construction of building at Karkardooma on land allotted by DDA.Contributions to the said fund are being made by the Institution as and when required for theconstruction and completion of the said building.(ix) Laboratory Fund: This fund is being accumulated at the centres out of transfer from General Fund,Income & Expenditure Accounts and from Grant given by the Institution for the purpose of creatinglaboratories at the centres.(x) Endowment Fund: This fund represents the amount received from approved donors towardsinstitutions of endowment lectures. The expenses for conducting such lectures are given from theamount of interest earned on such investments.67

Auditor’s Report(xi) Student Activity Fund: From the financial year 2007-08, it has been resolved to transfer 25 % ofAdmission/Application/ Building cum-Library fee (Received in Capital Reserve) towards StudentActivity Fund to meet expenses like Library Grant to Centres, Convocation expenses, expenses oninteraction session with office bearers of Centres/ sub centres, printing of Lab Manuals.(xii) Establishment Support Reserve for Centres: The Institute had started charging `500/- per newlyenrolled student, w.e.f. 01/07/2009, to provide establishment support to the Centres. The Institutecollected `30,42,800/- as fees during this year as against `31,39,050/- collected last year. TheInstitute has given establishment grants to Centres, to the extent of `57,82,000/- this year which isincluded in the figure of Contribution to Centres, in the Income & Expenditure account. This resultedinto an additional expenditure of `32,35,344/- on Establishment. Out of the amount of `30,42,800/-collected during the year, an amount of Rs.53,569/- has been utilised during the year and thus theunutilized amount of `29,89,231/- has been kept in a separate reserve account “EstablishmentSupport Reserve for Centres” for effective control and monitoring purposes.(e) Composite Subscription Account: Life Compounded Membership fee is deemed to be received for aperiod of five accounting years including the year in which it is received.(f) Membership & Other Fees and Technical Programmes Collection: Membership Fees, ExaminationFees & Other Fees and Charges received from members and students are accounted for on cashbasis, as and when received.(g) Income earned on earmarked investments: Income earned on investments which are earmarkedfor various funds and in respect of provision for gratuity, are credited to the respective fund/provision accounts.(h) Investments: Investments are stated at cost. Deposits/Bonds of periods exceeding one year aretreated as long term investments.(i) Inventories(i) Stock of paper and publications is valued at cost.(ii) Stock of study materials and books is valued at cost or selling price, whichever is less.(j) Gratuity: Provision for gratuity is based on actuarial Valuation at HQ only.B. NOTES TO FINANCIAL STATEMENTS1. In view of the exemption granted by the Income Tax Department under Sub-Clause (iv) of Clause (23 C) ofSection 10 of the Income Tax Act to the Institution, no provision for Income tax has been made in theaccounts.2. The Conveyance Deeds in respect of land at Kolkata, and Delhi have not been executed. Sale Deeds inrespect of flats purchased by the Patna, Lucknow and Jaipur Centres have also not been executed in favourof the Institution.3. Composite Membership fee is deemed to be received for a period of five accounting years and isapportioned equally in five years irrespective of the month in which it is received. The unexpired portion ofthe Composite Membership Fee amounting to `2,62,18,388/- (L.Y. `2,65,45,248/-) is classified as a liabilityunder Composite Subscription Account.4. Building under construction: Building at Karkardooma, Delhi was under construction as at 31.3.2012.5.
