<strong>TheSpec</strong> - <strong>Port</strong> <strong>deal</strong> <strong>keeps</strong> <strong>growing</strong> <strong>Bermingham</strong> <strong>here</strong><strong>Bermingham</strong> is taking over the 60,000-square-foot warehouse space at the north end of the Lakeportplant. A $3-million renovation is planned to turn the space into a manufacturing plant and office forthe rapidly <strong>growing</strong> company.“The building as it sits right now is basically a large refrigerator,” Smith said. “You can't drive a truck intoit, which we need to do, and it needs heat and light.”Labatt faced harsh local criticism when it closed the Lakeport plant last year and rejected pleas to leaveits older beer making equipment behind in the hopes a craft brewer might move in and salvage some ofthe 143 jobs Labatt killed.
