PRODUCTION FACILITYPRODUCTION FACILITY12345SOVITALPRODMASH is the largest modern and highlyautomated production facility for professional refrigeratingequipment in Europe.SOVITALPRODMASH builds equipment under POLAIR trademark. The plant completesa full manufacturing cycle with conveying products assembly. The operations are locatedin Volzhsk, the republic of Mari-El; with the total area covering 100,000 square meters.Annual potential output of the plant is 153,000 refrigerated cabinets, 105,000 monoblocksand split units, 2.5 million m2 of coldroom sandwich panels.The plant operates using the equipment of leading global providers – Salvagnini, Stam,Cannon, Mossini – serving as a foundation for the following production areas:• continuous sheet colour area (coiled steel and aluminium) 1 ;• metal nesting and cutting equipment area 2 ;• punch press equipment area 3 ;• 17 equipment areas for filling cabinet frames and panels with polyurethane foam 4 ;• three conveyer assembly areas;• plastic processing area (plastic pressing machines) 5 ;• metal machining and welding area;• galvanisation equipment area;• component electrostatic spraying, varnishing and drying equipment area;• heat exchanger manufacturing area.4


COMPONENTS BY LEADING GLOBAL PROVIDERS1POLAIR TM equipment is based on the combinationof state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies, perfect designsolutions and the use of components from global leadingproviders with a proved history of decades of success.2The components provided for the manufacturing process are selected thoroughly withthe 100 per cent quality assurance.3The refrigerator sets for cabinets and monoblocks are based on Danfoss (Denmark),Tecumseh Europe/L`Unite Hermetique (France) 1 , and Aspera (Italy) leak-proof compressors.Refrigerating machines are equipped with anti-acid filter dryer 2 . Compressorsare controlled with highly reliable electronic units (Dixell, Carel, etc.) with several defrostingmodes 3 . Refrigerator sets have pressostats 4 , schraders and contactors fromDanfoss and Schneider Electric.Air-cooling units based on copper-aluminium evaporators have EBM Papst (Germany) andElco (Italy) low-noise electric motors. Coldroom fittings are provided by МТН (Italy) andFermod (France) 5 .4Stainless-steel refrigerated cabinets are built using food-compatible stainless steel of AISI304 grade, from Acerinox (Spain), Arcelor (France) .Refrigerator sets are filled with DuPont and Solvay refrigerants.55


MAIN TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESSESPRODUCTION FACILITY12345All refrigerating equipment is built using state-of-the-arthigh-technology automated equipment from leading globalproviders.All products are produced from cold-rolled hot-galvanized steel 1 and food-compatiblestainless steel of AISI 304 grade that are shipped in coils.The coils get to the continuous sheet paint area 2 where a three-layer protectivedecorative coating consisting of a passivating layer, primer layer, and polymer coatinglayer, is applied onto the cold-rolled steel.In order to protect the decorative coating of the cold-rolled steel 3 , 4and the stainless steel surface 5 against mechanical damage, a film is applied duringfurther processing.After the film is applied, steel is rolled into coils again to pass it to the metal nesting andcutting area where the coils are cut for further processing.The work-pieces are then moved to the punch press equipment, where the automatedpresses and mills create ultimate forms of cases and other components for the futurerefrigerating equipment.Metal ThickPolymer Coating Thick0.5 0.6 0.9 1.2 mm 25-30 micrometerFilm WidthPolymer Coating Colour0.12 micrometer RAL Palette6


MAIN TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESSES1The manufacturing technology specifics allows to produceproducts that are superior to existing similar samples in qualityand reliability. One-piece cabinet structures, coldroom panelsas well as doors and door units are filled in modern automatedlines using high-pressure filling heades.2Cases for future cabinets and sandwich panels are assembled using shockproof andcold-proof PVC shapes, after which they get to the filling areas 1 , 2 , 3 .3Assembled cases are inserted into mould in the shape of the ultimate product. The casesare heated to 40 °С in the mould to fill them with BASF polyurethane foam under highpressure.After filling, the cases are stored in mould under the same temperature which causes thepolyurethane foam to dilate and fill the case and polymerize. Due to a high level ofpolyurethane foam adhesion to metal components and PVC shapes a solid and hard caseconstruction is ensured.4After the case-filling area, the cabinet cases get to the conveyer 4 , 5 , with the rest of thecomponents being gathered there. Filled-in sandwich panels are moved to the gravitationalwarehouse and then to the cold room packing area to be finally built there.57


MAIN TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESSESPRODUCTION FACILITY12345All components and raw materials are subject to continuousquality control. The equipment uses only heat exchangersproduced in the company plant.The production platform is equipped with its own facilities to build heat exchangers forrefrigerated cabinets and monoblocks which allows to focus the development and designon customer needs instead of limitations of standard models offered in the market.Raw material for heat exchanger production is provided in the form of copper tubingand aluminium foil.Automated production lines ensure the copper tube cutting and bending 1 and foilpreparation 2 .Foil sheets are threaded onto the tubing. The blanks are fed to the burnishing machinewhere the heat exchanger is formed 3 .The next step in the heat exchanger production is pipe bend installation and automaticsoldering 4 , 5.On the last stage, heat exchangers are tested for leak-tightness in a special bath underpressure of up to 30 atmosphere.8


MAIN TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESSES1We believe that quality and reliable product can not containcomponents of questionable quality or with “insignificant”shortcomings.2In order to ensure high and stable quality, we have established our own production offrostproof and shockproof PVC frames, shelves and guides for refrigerated cabinets, aswell as other metal and PVC elements.Preparatory production areas include 15 extrusion lines for PVC frames and other plasticelements 1 that meet all plant demand in proprietary developed and patented “tongueand groove” profile 2 .345PVC frames are extruded from special granules and get cut into pieces of required lengthto be moved to the main production workshop where they are used to assemble refrigeratedcabinet and coldroom cases, as well as for doors and door units and coldroomcorners.The process of making cabinet shelves and guides, monoblock cases and other metalcomponents is divided into stages:• workpiece cutting and formation by automated lines and presses;• cutting and resistance welding of shelves 3 ;• workpieces moving to the galvanic coating area to apply a layer of zinc onto the metalsurface using electrochemical method 4 , protecting the metal against aggressiveenvironment;• electrostatic spray of powder paint with further polymerization under hightemperature 5 .Quality control is carried out in each stage of the technological process which – togetherwith state-of-the-art technologies — ensures 100% quality as well as reliability anddurability of the equipment.9


DESIGN DEPARTMENTDESIGN DEPARTMENTThe company has its own design department and a unique moderntesting laboratory comparable even to government certificationand standardisation organisations due to the list of parameterssupervised.Today, we announce new modifications of glass-door refrigerated cabinets and lowrefrigerator set. They were successfully tested in England to meet PepsiCo standards.Certificates granted after the tests confirm the high quality and cooling propertiesof our refrigerated cabinets.Refrigerated cabinets, monoblocks and split units are СЕ-certified according to Europeanelectrical safety standards.Our design department experts are constantly improving the equipment and developingnew products.No equipment or component-production technology changes are introduced withoutprior calculations and prototype creation and testing.10


MODERN TEST LABThe plant laboratory facilities allow for an accurate and comprehensiveprototype parametric testing and periodic manufacturedequipment tests.The design process for new refrigerating equipment includes a wide range of testssuch as:• heat-insulating properties identification;• refrigerating system parameters adjustment using product simulators;• construction life tests;• testing equipment resistance to transportation joltingThe design department is currently developing innovating refrigerating equipment,and the test laboratory performs trials. These products are soon to be announced.11


ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETYENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY<strong>Polair</strong> is doing its best to make POLAIR equipment environmentally safe.To ensure that, the produced equipment is shifted to ozone-friendly R134a and R404Arefrigerants according to the Montreal Protocol on Substances That Deplete the Ozone Layer,ratified by Russia.<strong>Polair</strong> actively implements energy-saving technologies. Its refrigerated cabinets are based onone-piece structures ensuring maximum thermal insulation and leak-tightness of the inner spacewhich allows to lower power consumption.Some refrigerated cabinets are equipped with energy-saving controllers which effectively maintaintemperature within the pre-set limits and provide for two-mode – day and night – operationin order to ensure efficient power usage.<strong>Polair</strong> optimizes its production process to reduce the impact on the environment. For example,water coolers were installed in the plastic extrusion area so a closed water cycle could beintroduced.Introduction of a modern boiler room allowed to lower gas consumption and thus to reduceemissions.<strong>Polair</strong> never rests on its laurels ceases. It annually invests in equipment replacementwith modern ecologically safe models. Projects reducing the environmental burden are launchedcontinuously. We monitor new trends in the refrigerating equipment market to implementinnovative developments.12

Monoblocks are placedin the upper zone of the coldroom sandwich-panel wall.A split unit consists of two separate blocks linked with thermo-insulated copper tubesand power supply and control cable. Split units blocks can be placed at some distance away fromeach other which allows using them in cases when the coldroom wall width and ceiling height preventmonoblock installation.POLAIR refrigerating machines use hermetic piston compressors from leading European vendors.Capillary tube serves as a throttle.Evaporator defrosting is completed automatically. Condensate pours into the collection tub(in the external block) through a tube heated by a flat electric heating element. COLDROOM STRUCTUREPOLAIR coldrooms consist of sandwich panels (for walls, ceiling and floor), door blocks andcorner posts.A sandwich panel is essentially two sheets of steel (galvanized, enameled or stainless) inserted in theshockproof PVC profiles, with a layer of polyurethane foam in between.The sandwich panels are filled with the polyurethane foam under high pressurewhich ensures there are no voids or cold bridges and provides 100 per cent adhesion of thethermal-insulation material to the metal.1The edges of the sandwich panels are secured with shockproofand frostproof PVC profiles. The extension belts consist of side, ceilingand floor panels.
