Safety 29 30Motion Adaptive-EPSMotion Adaptive-Electric Power Steering (MA-EPS) is a new piece of technology thatworks closely with Vehicle Stability Assist (page 31); in the case of oversteer (typicalin snow or on an icy road), it increases the effort needed to add steering to the insideof the curve and lightens effort to counter steer in the opposite direction, at the sametime applying the brakes to the outside wheels only. In other words, it helps you drivecorrectly, and naturally, out of the situation in complete control.Headlight Timer OffSometimes known as ‘coming home lights’, thissystem allows you to let your headlights stay onfor up to 60 seconds after you have turned off theengine, lighting your way as you leave the CR-V.A great deal of complex engineering isat work in the CR-V, keeping you and yourpassengers safe.Honda is committed to building the very best safetyfeatures, most of which come as standard across allgrades, as attested by the Euro NCAP 5 star ratingthe CR-V has been awarded, the maximum ratingavailable in these independent crash tests.Whiplash mitigation front seatsActive Cornering Lights (ACL) ∆The earlier you see changes in the road ahead,the quicker you can react to them, especially ondark or poorly lit roads. The Active Cornering Lightilluminates the turning you are about to take,from the moment you indicate or turn the steeringwheel.In the event of a collision, the seatback springsare optimised so that the seat will more equallyabsorb the occupant’s impact, in a manner thatcan minimise the severity of a whiplash injury.Emergency Stop SignalHill Descent Control*Emergency Stop Signal rapidly flashes the hazard warninglights, warning following drivers if you need to brake heavily,reducing the possibility of a rear end collision.Hill Start Assist (HSA)Hill Start Assist (HSA) prevents roll back when startingon an incline. 31 32 SafetyTrailer Stability Assist (TSA)When towing,Trailer Stability Assist (TSA)constantly monitors themovement of the trailerrelative to the CR-Vand if it sees too muchdifference (for instancein a cross-wind or whenchanging lane), it stepsin before things getdangerously out of line.Clever technology is always at work while youdrive the CR-V and often you’ll never know it’sthere, even when you’re using it.It’s all about co-operative control, with each safetyfeature working seamlessly together to give constantsupport to the driver.In all conditions and on all road surfaces, Vehicle StabilityAssist (VSA) monitors all four wheels independently, andcalculates the precise amount of power or braking forceneeded to regain control if traction is lost. In very slipperyconditions, it manages engine torque and braking to eachwheel, reducing speed to a point that allows safeand consistent travel.By adjusting enginetorque and applyingprecisely the rightamount of braking tothe relevant wheels,TSA brings the payloadback into alignment.Model shown is 2.2 i-DTEC EX in Passion Red Pearl with optional Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS).
