23 24 Performance<strong>The</strong> <strong>CR</strong>-V is full of ideas and pioneering technology,working together to increase efficiency, withoutstanding fuel economy and lower CO 2 emissions.One such technology is Idle Stop, available on all manualtransmission <strong>CR</strong>-V’s. A clever system that turns off theengine when you come to a standstill, at traffic lightsfor example, and then seamlessly starts it again whenyou press down the clutch.Another is the electronically controlled 4WD system.As front wheel drive is the default mode for standarddriving conditions, the <strong>CR</strong>-V’s 4WD automatically kicksin when loss of traction, caused by wet, icy or slipperysurfaces, is detected. And because this upgraded systemis always monitoring the road surface, it cleverly ensuresthat power is only given to the wheels that need it, beingmore fuel-efficient at the same time as deliveringconfidence-inspiring grip and stability.<strong>The</strong> 155PS 2.0 i-VTEC petrol engine features VariableValve Timing and Lift Control for optimised output athigh engine rpm, and fuel efficiency at lower rpm.It’s available in a choice of two-wheel drive (2WD) orfour-wheel drive (4WD) powertrains. <strong>The</strong> 2WD features a6-speed manual transmission whilst the 4WD featuresa choice of either 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manualtransmissions. An impressive 350/Nm of torque isavailable from the all-aluminium, 150PS 2.2 i-DTECdiesel engine, offering strong towing capability.
