5 – I/O <strong>Module</strong> ConfigurationInstalling FirmwareSInstalling FirmwareNew firmware becomes available periodically either on CD-ROM or from the website. Installing firmware on an I/O module involves the following steps:1. Download the firmware image file to the I/O module.2. Unpack the firmware image file.3. Activate the new firmware. The activation can be disruptive ornon-disruptive. Refer to “Nondisruptive Activation” on page 5-17 <strong>for</strong>in<strong>for</strong>mation about the conditions <strong>for</strong> a non-disruptive activation.The Firmware Install and the Image Install commands automate the firmwareinstallation process and per<strong>for</strong>m a disruptive activation as described in “One-StepFirmware Installation” on page 5-18.
