5 – I/O <strong>Module</strong> ConfigurationPaging an I/O <strong>Module</strong>SPaging an I/O <strong>Module</strong>To help you locate a particular I/O module, you can turn on the beacon featurewith the Set Beacon command. This causes all port Logged-In LEDs to flash inunison. The following is an example of how to turn the beacon on and off.<strong>QLogic</strong>8<strong>Gb</strong>T #> set beacon on<strong>QLogic</strong>8<strong>Gb</strong>T $> set beacon offSetting the Date and TimeThe I/O module date and time can be set explicitly using the Date command or itcan be set automatically through a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server. The Datecommand also displays the current time. Unlike the Date command, the NTPserver also synchronizes the date and time on the I/O module with the date andtime on the workstation. Synchronized date and time is required <strong>for</strong> SecureSocket Layer (SSL) connections.To use an NTP server, you must enable the NTP client on the I/O module andspecify an IP address <strong>for</strong> the NTP server.NOTE:To set the date with the Date command, the NTP client must be disabled.Enter the Date command to display the date and time as show in the followingexample:<strong>QLogic</strong>8<strong>Gb</strong>T #> dateMon Apr 07 07:51:24 200xEnter the Date command within an Admin session to set the date and time asshown in the following example:<strong>QLogic</strong>8<strong>Gb</strong>T #> admin start<strong>QLogic</strong>8<strong>Gb</strong>T (admin) #> date 013110152025<strong>QLogic</strong>8<strong>Gb</strong>T (admin) #> dateFri Jan 31 10:15:03 UTC 20255-14 59245-01 A
