Hara Murphy Celebrates 30 yearsANNIVERSARIESHara Murphy began working at Paragon in October 1982 and became <strong>Camden</strong>in 1997 with the Paragon merger. She was the Community Manager at <strong>Camden</strong>Buckingham before being promoted to District Manager. Hara graduated from<strong>Camden</strong> U in 2009 and has been married to her husband Shawn for 12 years.Together they have two beautiful children- Miranda (7) and Aidan (3). When Harais not working she enjoys spending time with her children by taking them tomovies, plays and outdoor festivals.Janice Potter Celebrates 25 YearsJanice Potter began working with <strong>Camden</strong> (via the Summit merger in 2005)since1987 as Executive Assistant to Summit’s Vice President and District Manager.With her interest in property management she wanted to experience more areasof the company so she began leasing on the weekends and fell in love withthe business. From there her roles included Leasing Consultant, CommunityManager, Regional Quality Manager focusing on the Continuous QualityImprovement Process, Training Director and Regional Director of Education.She is a certified Adult Learning facilitator and serves on the National ApartmentAssociation Education Institute Board of Directors representing <strong>Camden</strong>. In herspare time she enjoys the beach, canoeing and visiting her hometown of NewOrleans for the Jazz and Heritage Festival. Janice has been happily married for25 years and has a 12-year-old ‘young’ dog.Dana Stanley Celebrates 25 YearsDana Stanley has been employed with <strong>Camden</strong> (via the merger with OasisResidential in 1998) since 1987. At Oasis, Dana’s first role was on sitemanagement, and then she assumed corporate roles where she managed Oasis’financial data entry and month end close procedures. She is currently one of twoauditors responsible for executing, completing and reporting property audits forall of <strong>Camden</strong>’s managed communities. Dana has won several awards during her25-year tenure with <strong>Camden</strong> including the Elite Award in 1995, an ACE awardin 1999, and the Legendary Achievement Award. Dana is the mother of threechildren, Sheree, Kyle and Aaron. In her spare time she enjoys being with herthree grandchildren. “Granny,” as she is know to her grandkids always looksforward to spending as much time as possible with them.Liz Sturgeon Celebrates 20 YearsLiz Sturgeon has been in her role of District Coordinator in the Orlando Districtoffice since 1992. She joined <strong>Camden</strong> as part of the Paragon merger and hasassisted in property acquisitions, dispositions, management of asset properties,and has extensive experience in on-site property operations. She was a NationalACE Award winner in 2000. She has played a key part in the <strong>Camden</strong> Culture Cluband the <strong>Camden</strong> Cares Committee. Recently Liz helped coordinate the donationand relocation of an extensive playground set from a <strong>Camden</strong> community to theOrlando Coalition for the Homeless. Liz enjoys taking her drag race car out to thetrack and is no stranger to speeds over 120 mph. Liz is a native of Indianapolis,Indiana, where she met Gary, her husband of 41 years.5

<strong>Camden</strong> Scholarship ProgramHUMAN RESOURCESThe <strong>Camden</strong> <strong>Property</strong> <strong>Trust</strong> Scholarship Fund helps children of <strong>Camden</strong> employees attend the college or university of theirchoice. Scholarships of up to $2,000 per semester, or $4,000 per year, are awarded for undergraduate study at a four-yearcollege or university. Scholarships of up to $1,000 per semester, or $2,000 per year, are awarded for study at a two-yearcommunity college. The maximum scholarship assistance is for four years. Scholarship recipients must enter college in thefall term following the award and must enroll as a full-time undergraduate student. For scholarship-award purposes, “fulltime”means taking at least 12 credit hours per semester.Who can apply?Children of <strong>Camden</strong> employees who are high-school seniors or undergraduate students under the age of 25 may apply forscholarships. A parent or guardian must be a full-time <strong>Camden</strong> employee and must have completed at least two years ofactive service with <strong>Camden</strong> by the scholarship award date. Graduating seniors must have maintained at least a 2.5 gradepointaverage (on a 4.0 scale). An applicant must be a U.S. citizen or, if not a current citizen, be a permanent U.S. residentand in the process of becoming a U.S. citizen. Students must apply for the scholarship every year.Application ProcedureThe <strong>Camden</strong> Scholarship Fund Application will be available on January 14, 2013, and will be posted online at https://aim.applyists.net/GHCF. The application provides details of required documents, which include original high school or collegetranscripts and copies of SAT/ACT scores or other standardized test results. Students must complete the application in fulland provide all required documents by March 22, 2013. AROCCharlotte Fun DayOn October 10, Charlotte celebrated its fantastic employees byclosing all communities for the day and venturing to a nearbypark. The park was transformed into an outdoor carnival completewith popcorn, cotton candy, caramel apples, music, and games –including sumo wrestling suits. Employees also participated in theannual bake-off competition and were judged by some tough foodcritics. The final products were delicious! To close out the day, a“Dance Off for a Day Off” contest was held in which employeesput their dancing shoes on and busted a move to win a two hour,half day, or full day off certificate. All in all, Charlotte’s employeesenjoyed a fun-filled day of relaxation and bonding while celebratingemployee excellence and showing appreciation for one another.Annual Softball TournamentIn September the <strong>Camden</strong> ACEs returned to participate in theGreater Charlotte Apartment Association’s Annual SoftballTournament. Each maintenance employee plays a vital role in <strong>Camden</strong>’ssuccess and we are all grateful to have them on our team.Raleigh Fun DayOn October 24, the Raleigh region went to Frankie’s Fun Parkfor some food, fun and games. Associates competed in lasertag, putt-putt, go-cart racing, bumper boats and much more.Afterwards, communities were able to spend some well-deserveddowntime with their fellow co-workers over lunch. It was a greatday to say thank you for all the associates do for <strong>Camden</strong>.The members of Charlotte’s Maintenance team celebrated and were recognized for their hard workduring this year’s Charlotte Maintenance Appreciation Week.Raleigh team members recognized their hard work at Frankie’s Fun Park.11


AROCGCAA Bravo AwardsOn November 29, the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association held its annual Bravo AwardsCeremony, which recognizes individual leaders in the multi family industry. <strong>Camden</strong> wasstrongly represented at the event; a total of seven employees and one community werenominated for awards in addition to those who were recognized for serving on variouscommittees in 2012. The highlight of the night was when Chuck Butler with <strong>Camden</strong>Stonecrest was named Service Supervisor of the Year for the second year in a row! Chuckwas recognized for his commitment and dedication in his role and to the industry. He is a 32year veteran with <strong>Camden</strong> and we are very fortunate to have him. A small group of <strong>Camden</strong> employeesattended the event at the Charlotte Convention Center withhigh hopes and little knowledge about what rank they mayhave placed. After an hour of nail-biting anticipation, thecrowd went wild when <strong>Camden</strong> was announced as the #3 bestplace to work in the mid-sized business category! In additionto winning third place, the Charlotte team also took home theCommunity Impact Award for its <strong>Camden</strong> Cares efforts.School Supply DriveDuring the months of July and August, the Charlotte communitiesrallied together in an effort to help support local schools andstudents in need. Each community hosted a school supplydrive and collected items based off of lists provided by Teachfor America. A staggering amount of donations was collectedfrom residents, vendors, friends, families and employees. Incelebration of the great success of the drives and to showfurther support for Teach for America and their mission, the<strong>Camden</strong> Cares Committee hosted a dinner for the principalsand new teachers from the schools benefitting from the efforts.In addition to the supplies, communities were also able tocontribute $1,200 to help reach their goals.Participants include TFA teachers, staff, principals, and <strong>Camden</strong> Cares Committee Members.Connie Farr holding the award from the Charlotte Business Journal.12


AROCHabitat for HumanityOn November 7, all of the Raleigh area associates volunteeredto help Habitat for Humanity. Everyone strapped on their toolbelts and hard hats to work on several houses by installingroofs and windows. The Raleigh teams showed heart anddedication by working hard through the cold weather.Mid-Atlantic Supply DriveLed by the <strong>Camden</strong> Cares Committee, the Mid Atlanticcommunities hosted school supply drives in July and August.The supplies were collected and donated to LoudounCounty’s Neediest Kids program which provides thousandsof low-income students across the DC Metro area with thebasic essentials they need to get the education they deserve.During the 2012 school year, Neediest Kids helped more than40,000 children.Team Raleigh showed their support in numbers despite the cold weather.Jennifer Robinson (right) presents 12 boxes of school supplies to a LoudonCounty employee.Mid-AtlanticMaintenance AppreciationEach year, the Mid-Atlantic region celebrates MaintenanceAppreciation week. AROC“Movember”Every November the Raleigh region celebrates the hardworking maintenance staff. They have even coined the month“Movember” (“M” for maintenance). During the first and thirdweek, the office staff treated the maintenance team membersto a delicious breakfast or lunch. During the second week, theRaleigh district office took all the maintenance staff to lunch atCarolina Ale House, afterwards treated them to the new JamesBond flick, SkyFall. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed alittle R&R for the day. The final week of “Movemeber,” the districtoffice brought cookie cakes and goodie bags for the maintenancestaff at each property. All in all, “Movember” was a huge success.Thanks to all the Raleigh maintenance guys who are vital to thesuccess of their communities.Taking out the TrashEvery quarter the Raleigh region goes out and cleans theirsection of the city. DROCSeptembeardMale employees in Dallas participated in Septembeard, whichis an initiative to raise awareness for prostate cancer. Thecommunity that raised the most money won a breakfast servedby the <strong>Camden</strong> Addison team. HROCMDA FundraiserHROC put on a Muscular Dystrophy Association Fundraiserin August to help send kids to MDA Summer Camp. It was ahuge success raising over $17,000! Thanks to our fabulousresidents for donating and to our communities for puttingon car washes, bake sales, etc. We raised enough funds tosend 21 kids to camp! Our top contributing communitieswere honored with a plaque from the campers and will get toexperience a fun day at camp with the children they helped tosend.Halloween in HROCHROC went all out celebrating Halloween this year! The move-in process began on Thursday, August 16, and continuedthroughout the weekend. The <strong>Camden</strong> Miramar staff filled 1,490 permanent beds and had an additional 80 students on-campus,opening the doors at 104% occupancy. The staff executed more than 1,000 express check-ins – which means all lease paperwork wascompleted and payments were collected prior to the move-in day. This allowed students to simply collect their keys and begin movingin. <strong>Camden</strong> Miramar’s organization and proficiency had the University’s President and Vice President highly impressed, as well as thelocal news media which produced a cover story about <strong>Camden</strong> Miramar.Faculty, staff, student organizations, fraternities and sororities were all on hand to assist the students with one of the largest move-ins that lasted from August 16 - August 19.17

TROCPlayground RelocationMike Eilertsen, Project Manager of Construction, volunteeredto spear-head the teardown, relocation and re-construction ofthe playground at <strong>Camden</strong> World Gateway. The location wasto be designated by the Orlando <strong>Camden</strong> Cares committee.The committee had the Orlando employees submit a locationthey thought would benefit by receiving the playground. Outof the four choices the committee received, they decided that<strong>Camden</strong> would donate the playground to The Coalition forthe homeless located in downtown Orlando. Jason Eilertsen,Assistant Superintendent of Construction, coordinated themanpower and equipment to accomplish this great feat. OnNovember 17, the <strong>Camden</strong> Cares committee officially presentedthe playground equipment to The Coalition. Prior to opening the doors Becky, a Life Net regular volunteer gave the team tips and information tomake the day go a little smoother as they prepared utensils. Volunteers served up warm apple pie, pulled pork, meatloaf, rice, mashedpotatoes and gravy, mixed veggies and more. After filling their trays with the <strong>Camden</strong> line cooks. Diners visited Scotty and Tiffany forwarm pasties and coffee donated by Panera Bread, Publix, and Whole Foods. Johnny maintained the tables and refilling any beverages.Together we offered Dining Excellence. TROC Leasing RallyTROCIn September, TROC hosted Leasing rallies in Atlanta, Tampa, Orlando, and South Florida. The office staff members were joined ina PEP rally type atmosphere by their respective DMs, RMs, RMD, and RVP. In an effort to rally an end-of-year push, team buildingcompetitions were held to reveal how individual workers teaming together can lead to a much more powerful performance. TROCAtlanta Fun DayAtlanta Employee Appreciation was held on September 28, during this event <strong>Camden</strong> presented a local homeless youth center withclose to $5,000. The Atlanta communities hosted resident events aimed at building CLEI while also collecting donations for charitablecauses. Food and events included hotdogs, hamburgers, and cotton candy combined with obstacle courses, inflatable twister games,egg toss competition, and a dunking booth made for a very exciting day.Tampa Bay TriathlonIn June, with <strong>Camden</strong> Montague’s help <strong>Camden</strong> WestchasePark hosted the Tampa Bay Women’s Triathlon, sponsored inpart by <strong>Camden</strong>. Race beneficiaries include the American LungAssociation and The Spring of Tampa Bay. It was a great wayfor <strong>Camden</strong> Westchase Park to show itself off to all of its Tampaneighbors and create some word of mouth buzz in the area. Theday of the race Anna, Janae, Ed and Amanda volunteered for theevent and had an amazing time.Charity ChallengeThe Charity Challenge brings together co-ed teams from thehospitality and apartment industries for a full day of spiritedathletic competition in six sporting games. Events includedbasketball hotshots, canoe relay, obstacle course, tubing relay,volleyball and tug-of-war. TROCLease is the WordThe entire Eastern Division (TROC and AROC) showed its “leaselightning” skills with an internal promotion to help generateexcitement and productivity from July 30 - August 12. Onecomponent of the promotion was to re-create a photographicscene from the 1978 film Grease. As you can see, the teams hadfun recreating each shot from the hit movie.Tampa for Feeding AmericaDuring November, the Tampa <strong>Camden</strong> Cares team volunteered atFeeding America Tampa Bay. This organization’s primary missionis to end hunger and nourish hope across the Tampa area. TheTampa team helped sort 8,731 pounds of non-perishable fooddonations which equals out to about 6,976 meals!Orlando <strong>Camden</strong> CaresThe <strong>Camden</strong> Cares Committee of Orlando decided to collectcanned goods and non-perishables for the Oranole Foundation.The Oranole Foundation is a church organization which helpsfill the schools’ food pantries by collecting and distributingdonated goods. Seminole County, Florida holds the highest rateof homeless children per capita in the United States. There arechildren in Orange and Seminole Counties that only eat breakfastand lunch provided by their schools. Unfortunately, they go tobed without having dinner. All of the Orlando communities joinedtogether in an effort to support the cause, collecting cannedgoods and non-perishables. The Oranole Foundation evenreceived a $50 donation from one of <strong>Camden</strong>’s vendors (DMAK),felt touched and wanted to participate in the event. The Orlandoteam delivered all of the donations to Journey Christian Church inApopka, where the VP, Barbara Reilly, of the foundation welcomedthem with enthusiasm. The goods will be distributed among theOrange and Seminole County schools that provide pantries. Eachschool will discretely provide a child or teen with a backpack fullof food so their families have a dinner.25
