game 9 - toledo 30, kent state 20Kent, OH - Kareem Hunt enjoyed his homecoming to NortheastOhio as he rushed for 141 yards to lead <strong>Toledo</strong> to a 30-20 victory over KentState in a rain-drenched Dix Stadium.The victory moved <strong>Toledo</strong> into bowl eligibility at 6-3, and more importantlykept the Rockets on top of the MAC’s West Division at 5-0.Hunt, who rushed for more than 5,000 yards as a prep at nearby WilloughbySouth High School, went over, around and through the GoldenFlashes, going over 100 yards in the first half alone (117) for the third timethis season. His best run was a 43-yarder in the first half.Terry Swanson added 77 yards on 17 carries. game 10 - Northern Illinois 27, toledo 24DeKalb, IL - Down to their fourth-string quarterback, <strong>Toledo</strong> foughtvaliantly but ultimately succumbed to Northern Illinois, 27-24, in a criticalMAC West Division game.Senior Dwight Macon, a wide receiver who began his career as aquarterback, came off the bench to complete 8-of-11 passes for 140 yardsand a touchdown, and nearly led the Rockets to their first victory overNorthern Illinois since 2009. Macon also rushed for 97 yards and two TD’s.The defeat moved <strong>Toledo</strong> (6-4, 5-1 MAC) into a tie with the Huskies(8-2, 5-1 MAC) for first place in the West with two games remaining in theregular season.Trailing 27-17 with 5:22 left, the Rockets stopped NIU on fourthand-2to regain possession of the ball. Macon went to work, driving <strong>Toledo</strong>79 yards down the field in eight plays, going the final three himselfto make the score 27-24 with 2:14 left.
