game 3 - cincinnati 58, toledo 34Cincinnati, OH – <strong>Toledo</strong> staged a furious second-half comeback thaterased much of a 34-point deficit but it wasn’t quite enough as the Rocketsfell to Cincinnati, 58-34, at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati.Cincinnati (1-0) scored touchdowns on its first six possessions, buildingleads of 34-0 and 41-7 in the first half. <strong>Toledo</strong> did not quit, though,cutting the lead to 41-34 early in the fourth quarter. But the Bearcats putthe game away with a touchdown and a field goal midway through thefourth quarter.Both teams rolled up more than 500 yards of offense, with the Rocketstotaling 563 yards and Cincinnati putting up 584.The Rockets (1-2) were led by sophomore QB Logan Woodside, whoconnected on 27-of-40 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns. SophomoreKareem Hunt paced the rushing attack with 101 yards, all in thefirst half, while sophomore Corey Jones caught 11 passes for 93 yards andone touchdown.UC sophomore quarterback Gunner Kiel completed 25-of-37 passesfor 418 yards and six scores.Cincinnati set the tone on the game’s first play, a 52-yard pass playfrom Kiel to Mekale McKay. Two plays later, Kiel hit McKay for a 17-yard TDalong the left edge of the end zone.<strong>Toledo</strong>’s first drive stalled at midfield, and Cincinnati responded withan eight-play, 81-yard drive that was capped by a 22-yard TD pass fromKiel to Max Morrison. UC extended the lead to 20-0 on an 80-yard drive,then got the ball right back on the UT 14-yard line following a <strong>Toledo</strong>fumble on the kickoff. Two plays later and four seconds into the secondquarter, Kiel found Chris Moore in the end zone to put UC up, 27-0. Themargin ballooned to 34-0 when Rod Moore capped a three-play drivewith a two-yard run.<strong>Toledo</strong> cracked the scoreboard on its first possession of the secondquarter on a three-yard rush by Hunt. Hunt also had 19, 21 and 13 yardson the nine-play, 85-yard drive. game 4 - toledo 34, Ball State 23<strong>Toledo</strong>, OH – In a contest delayed nearly three hours due to severeweather, <strong>Toledo</strong> outlasted Ball State, 34-23, at the Glass <strong>Bowl</strong>. The delaylasted 2:41, which meant the game did not finish until 12:42 the followingmorning. The victory marked the 500th win in school history for theRockets.Sophomore Kareem Hunt rushed for 142 yards and a touchdownon just 12 carries to pace a balanced Rocket offense that gained 318 of its470 yards of total offense on the ground. Hunt left the game in the secondquarter with a foot injury following a 43-yard run and did not return. It wasHunt’s fourth consecutive 100-yard outing in as many tries this season.Sophomore quarterback Logan Woodside guided the Rockets byconnecting on 13-of-22 passes for 152 yards and one TD.
