IPS Support ServicesAdministration and FinanceThe Administration and Finance department of IPS comprises of five units, Administration, FinancialOperations, Human Resources, Maintenance Operations and Procurement Services. These provide essentialinternal services to each of the research units in IPS.This year the Administration and Finance Department concentration was mainly on the budgeting andfunding of the Institute. Unit wise budget allocations were worked out and strategies were put in place toensure the smooth operations of the Institute taking into consideration the changes made to the financialstrategy of the Institute.PersonnelIloka Wickremasinghe, G.L.B. WijekoonMalini Fernando, Nirmala Meegama and Urmila JayasekeraLibraryIn keeping with its mission, the IPS library in 2005 continued to meet the information needs of the Institute’sresearch staff in support of the research and administrative functions of the Institute. The library furtherprovided access to quality information resources and facilitated information transfer using the best of traditionaland innovative technologies. During the year, the Library Committee continued to play an advisory roleassisting the librarian in setting overall library policy and in defining broad guidelines for further developmentof the IPS library.CollectionAs in the previous years, the library continued to increase its acquisitions and a large number of items wereadded to the library’s collection. Currently the collection consists of about 12,000 volumes of books, 7000pamphlets, 60 titles of Sri Lankan and international print journals which are relevant to new and existingresearch programmes. A substantialamount of publications anddocuments were also added to theLibrary Collection up to 2005repository, which library maintainson Sri Lankan economic and sectoral Books 11,090policy.
