IPS Research Themes__GovernanceEnhancing the Capacity of Governance at the Levels of the Local Communitiesand of the Regional Conglomerations of Such Local CommunitiesTowards this end, the research focuses on the strengthening of the devolutionary polity with particularemphasis on issues of local governance and the progressive introduction of the principle of ‘subsidiarity’ asthe basis of Sri Lanka’s polity. She has served the IPSfor more than a decade and has represented the Institute in a number of official delegations and conferences.As the Deputy Director, she will be in charge of the Institute’s Core-Research Programme, seminars, and bookreviews, and the Institute’s annual publication on the State of the Economy.31__________ Annual Report 2005
