Education system at the Academy
Studies at the Poznan Academy are based on the four-faculty
system:
■ Faculty of Composition, Conducting, Theory of Music and Eurhythmics
■ Faculty of Instruments
■ Faculty of Singing and Acting
■ Faculty of Choral Conducting, Music Education and Church Music
Furthermore, all the students are obliged to attend the classes
organized by the interfaculty units:
■ Department of Social Science and Humanities (senior lecturer
Andrzej M. Kempiński Ph.D.- Head of the Department)
■ Study Centre for Foreign Languages (lecturer Donata Żukowska
– Head of the Study Centre)
■ Study Centre for Pedagogy (Professor Anna Organiszczak –
Head of the Study Centre)
■ Study Centre for Physical Education and Sport ( Bernard Wieczorek
Ph.D. – Head of the Study Centre).
The candidates for the studies at the Academy must have the
“matura” certificate (graduation certificate of secondary education).
Education at the faculties takes place in the five-year system
(at the Faculty of Singing and Acting till the 2002/2003 recruitment
– in the five-year system).
Having finished the studies, the graduates receive the diploma
with the degree of the Master of Arts.
The educational offer is widened by the postgraduate studies
of ‘arts’ (in cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan)
and of the management of culture (in cooperation with the Higher
School of Social Skills in Poznan).
Furthermore – depending on the number of applications – the
Academy offers the following studies:
■ undergraduate – in instrumentation, instrumental pedagogy and
■ Eurhythmics (extramural, three years)
■ graduate – in music education (extramural, five years)
■ postgraduate:
in theory of music (extramural, three years)
master studies in instrumentation and artistic violin-making (extramural,
one year)
in the piano improvisation by E.Jaques-Dalcroze’s method (extramural,
one year).
Study Centre of the Polish Language
for Foreign Students
Within the frames of the SOCRATES/ERASMUS programme,
the foreign students can learn the Polish language at the language
courses organized by the Institute of the Polish Philology
at the A. Mickiewicz University in Poznan (free participation).
Apart from that, the Institute of the Polish Philology at UAM organizes
paid courses: The Summer School of the Polish Language
and the Winter School of the Polish Language (see chapter
Practical Information, p. 57)

Prerequisities for getting the scholarship
Students of the daily studies have the possibility of getting the
scholarship if in the previous academic year they achieved:
■ 22 points at the major subject
■ 20 points as an average of all the remaining subjects.
Students of the daily studies have the possibility of receiving
the student financial aid after they prove their bad financial
conditions. Other methods of student aid include:
■ financial help for students living in the dormitory
■ financial help for board
■ subsistence allowances.
