VOCAL PERFORMANCE<br />

6-YEAR (STARTING FROM 2003/2004<br />

5-YEAR) GRADUATE STUDIES<br />

<strong>The</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Vocal Performance and Act<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>of</strong>fers the programme which prepares students<br />

for the solo performances <strong>in</strong> music theatres.<br />

Dur<strong>in</strong>g the solo s<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g classes, they learn and<br />

perform the works <strong>of</strong> the opera, oratory and<br />

cantata, and song repertoire.<br />

In addition to the music courses, they participate<br />

<strong>in</strong> courses deal<strong>in</strong>g with act<strong>in</strong>g and<br />

stage movement, which after the third year<br />

f<strong>in</strong>ish with a theatre performance exam.<br />

Every year students prepare and present two<br />

opera performances, which are shown to public<br />

also outside the <strong>Academy</strong>, and which are<br />

met with great <strong>in</strong>terest and critical appraisal.<br />

<strong>The</strong> students are obliged to attend a twoyear<br />

course at the Pedagogical Study Centre,<br />

the completion <strong>of</strong> which enables them to start<br />

a teach<strong>in</strong>g career. <strong>The</strong>re is also a course <strong>of</strong><br />

“Market<strong>in</strong>g and cultural animation”, which<br />

gives the graduates the skills <strong>of</strong> management<br />

and promotion <strong>of</strong> culture (music).<br />

<strong>The</strong> practical part <strong>of</strong> the master exam consists<br />

<strong>of</strong> two recitals. In the first part, the student<br />

must perform a series <strong>of</strong> songs or selection<br />

<strong>of</strong> songs <strong>of</strong> one composer, and the arias<br />

from the Baroque ones to the early Mozart’s.<br />

<strong>The</strong> other recital consists <strong>of</strong> the presentation<br />

<strong>of</strong> the stylistically various arias and song from<br />

Mozart to modern times. <strong>The</strong> theoretical part<br />

consists <strong>in</strong> writ<strong>in</strong>g a paper connected with the<br />

specialization.<br />

Students earn the Master <strong>of</strong> Art degree <strong>in</strong><br />

vocal performance and act<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Faculty structure<br />

VOCAL CHAIR<br />

It coord<strong>in</strong>ates all substantial affairs <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Faculty. It organizes national master courses <strong>of</strong><br />

the oratory and cantata music <strong>in</strong>terpretations,<br />

and opera music <strong>in</strong>terpretations <strong>in</strong> the aspect<br />

<strong>of</strong> performance practice. It is a co-organizer<br />

(substantial supervision <strong>of</strong> the K. Kurp<strong>in</strong>ski<br />

Competition <strong>in</strong> Wloszakowice).<br />

<strong>The</strong> Faculty staff are also <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong> the<br />

vocal pedagogy and they organize student opera<br />

performances.<br />

Teach<strong>in</strong>g facilities<br />

<strong>The</strong> Faculty owns six classrooms, and the theatre<br />

room for the act<strong>in</strong>g and movement classes.<br />

Concerts and student performances take<br />

place <strong>in</strong> the Chamber Room and the <strong>Academy</strong><br />

Hall.<br />
