Apart from the chronological systematisation <strong>of</strong> the music<br />

creation, the subject takes <strong>in</strong>to consideration problematic<br />

systematization and the history <strong>of</strong> the musical notation, the<br />

history <strong>of</strong> musical forms and genres, the history <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>struments,<br />

musical performance, history <strong>of</strong> musical <strong>in</strong>stitutions,<br />

as well as problems <strong>of</strong> the music reception.<br />

HISTORY OF THE 2O TH CENTURY MUSIC (T)<br />

Presentation <strong>of</strong> selected works – canon <strong>of</strong> the 20 th century<br />

musical literature<br />

HISTORY OF THEORY OF MUSIC (T)<br />

ASSESSMENT: semesters VII-VIII – exam<br />

History <strong>of</strong> notation – from the notation <strong>in</strong> the antique Greece<br />

– through the notation <strong>of</strong> the Middle Ages and Renaissance<br />

(alphabetical, neume, mensural, tablature) – to the score<br />

pr<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g (from the 16 th century) and attempts to reform the<br />

system <strong>of</strong> notation <strong>in</strong> the 19 th and 20 th century. Development<br />

<strong>of</strong> musical systems: Greek, modal, solmisation and tonal<br />

(functional).<br />

EURHYTHMICS (E)<br />

4,5 year, semesters I-VI – 2 hours a week; semesters VII-VIII –<br />

1 hour a week; semester IX – 2 hours a week<br />

Dalcroze’s musical and movement exercises and their implementation<br />

<strong>in</strong> the traditional and modern aspect.<br />

memory and imag<strong>in</strong>ation. Develop<strong>in</strong>g the skills <strong>of</strong> sight-s<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

aural analysis and writ<strong>in</strong>g down the musical phenomena.<br />

Broaden<strong>in</strong>g the knowledge <strong>of</strong> functional harmony with special<br />

emphasis on extended tonality, non-diatonic modulation<br />

and vocal figuration. Emphasis on the proper use <strong>of</strong> term<strong>in</strong>ology<br />

and aural recognition <strong>of</strong> sound phenomena.<br />
