Greek and Latin prefixes, suffixes,word roots and combining forms are presented. Emphasis is onforming a foundation for a medical vocabulary including meaning,spelling and pronunciation. Medical abbreviations, signs andsymbols are included.Prerequisite: Placement beyond or satisfactory completion ofCOM 063 and COM 073.ALH 222 Disease Conditions3 Credits, 3 ContactsPresents the basic concepts of diseases, their causes andfunctional disturbances as they relate to body systems. Includesthe participating risk factors and appropriate methods of patienteducation regarding various disease processes.Prerequisite: ALH 218 and NSA 101 or NSA 105 or NSA 210and NSA 211.ALH 230 Medical Office Laboratory Procedures4 Credits, 5 ContactsThis course involves the study of the interactions betweenmicrobes and humans and the practice of handling medicallyimportant microbes, blood and body fluids.
