GOLF CHANNELOn-Course ReportersSECTION 1 INTRODUCTIONAs part of the PGA TOUR’s umbrella agreement with GOLF CHANNEL that wassigned in 2006, the network will remain the exclusive cable television home of theChampions Tour through 2021. The Orlando, FL-based network, found in 100 millionhomes worldwide, will provide coverage of all rounds of 23 Champions Tourtournaments in 2008, including a major, the JELD-WEN Tradition, the season-endingCharles Schwab Cup Championship and early round coverage of three other events.GOLF CHANNEL employs its own production team for all of its telecasts. TonyTortorici is the network’s executive producer and vice president of production.Brandt Packer will serve as producer for all of the telecasts. GOLF CHANNEL alsoairs a weekly series on Monday evenings, “The Champions Tour Learning Center.”Every episode is dedicated to analysis, tournament highlights and instruction, withthe goal being to improve viewers’ games.ProducerBrandt PackerPacker began his career at CBS Sports before moving to PGATOUR Productions to work in several capacities, including producingChampions Tour telecasts on CNBC. A graduate of the University ofTennessee, he most recently worked for ABC Sports as iso-producer,then lead producer for the majority of the network’s golf events in2006. Packer is the son of longtime CBS Sports college basketballanalyst, Billy Packer, and is married to the former Erin Doyle, daughterof Champions Tour player Allen Doyle.HostsBrian HammonsA native of Indiana, he is an original member of GOLF CHANNELon-air team. He came to the network from WXIN-TV (Fox) inIndianapolis where he was the weeknight sports anchor. He alsoworked for ABC, ESPN, Prime and NBC Sports as a motorsportsannouncer and as a studio host of Indiana Pacers’ telecasts. Inaddition to hosting the Champions Tour, Hammons also hosts somePGA TOUR and LPGA telecasts.Mark RolfingA member of the DePauw University golf team where he was ateammate of former vice president, Dan Quayle, Rolfing playedprofessionally before joining the staff of the Kapalua Resort in Maui,HI, which led to the formation of Rolfing Productions, a managementand promotion firm specializing in golf, tennis, windsurfing andcollege basketball. A longtime resident of Maui, he started hisbroadcasting career at ESPN in 1985 before moving to NBC in 1988and then ABC for eight years. He rejoined the NBC golf team in 1997.He will host select events.Donna Caponi-ByrnesA 2001 World Golf Hall of Fame inductee, Caponi is a GOLFCHANNEL on-course reporter at Champions Tour events. Her pasttelevision credits include ESPN, ABC Sports, CBS Sports and TBS. Amember of the LPGA for 25 years (1964-89), she captured 24 LPGA titles,including six majors. In 1988 she was named to Golf’s “100 Heroes ofthe First Century of Golf.”Billy Ray BrownA four-time University of Houston All-America and NCAAChampionship medalist as a freshman, he played 12 seasons on thePGA TOUR, winning three times. He was the 54-hole leader at the1990 U.S. Open at Medinah, missing the playoff by one shot. Over thelast several years Brown has worked numerous PGA TOUR,Champions Tour and LPGA events for ABC Sports, ESPN and GOLFCHANNEL.Mark LyeEntering his sixth season as a member of the Champions Tour,Lye will continue to provide expert analysis when not competing in2008. A three-time All-American at San Jose State, he alsocontributes to GOLF CHANNEL’s “Sprint Post Game” and specialeditionprogramming of major championships and other importantevents. In an 18-year PGA TOUR career, Lye earned nearly $2 millionand won the 1983 Bank of Boston Classic. He has successfully battledcancer twice, once in 1991 and again in 2002.John MahaffeyInjuries forced the former University of Houston star to explorebroadcast opportunities with GOLF CHANNEL starting in 2004. He willcontinue to provide analysis in 2008, bringing an impressive list ofcompetitive achievements and his own Texas flair to the telecasts. His10 PGA TOUR wins include one major, the 1978 PGA Championship, andthe 1986 PLAYERS Championship. Mahaffey captured one ChampionsTour title, the 1999 Southwestern Bell Classic.InterviewsDavid Marr IIIThe Bucknell University graduate made his Champions Tourdebut in August of 2004, handling interviews. His role was expandedin 2007 to include hosting select telecasts. Previously, Marr mannedthe news/update desk from the network’s Orlando headquarters, cohostedthe “Grey Goose 19th Hole” and contributed reports to “GolfCentral.” Prior to joining the network, Marr provided 1999 Ryder Cupcommentary for Boston’s NBC affiliate. He also contributedcommentary to several Web sites from golf’s major championships.He is the son of the late Dave Marr, the 1965 PGA Championshipwinner and noted TV analyst.AnalystsFrank NobiloA native of New Zealand whose playing career was cut shortdue to injuries, Nobilo made his GOLF CHANNEL debut in 2004 as leadanalyst on Champions Tour telecasts. Truly an international playerduring his career, Nobilo added the 1997 Greater Greensboro ChryslerClassic to his five European Tour wins.
