07/12/07 Inmate Release Procedures(10) Any questions related to a Decline to Revoke release with an additional sentenceshould be directed to Combined Records at (919) 716-3200 during normalworking hours.(k)SEX OFFENDERS(1) An inmate categorized as a sex <strong>of</strong>fender on either the current or a prior sentencecan be identified by the sex <strong>of</strong>fender notification on the bottom <strong>of</strong> the FacilityParole Review screen (PC40) for parole and post-release supervision cases, andon the Release Planning List (IPT batch job 02) for expiration <strong>of</strong> sentences.Current sex <strong>of</strong>fenders will be flagged by a “sex <strong>of</strong>fender” notification; inmateswith prior convictions for reportable <strong>of</strong>fenses will be identified by a “prior sex<strong>of</strong>fender” notification; and sex predators will be identified by a “sex predator”notification.When an inmate is categorized as a current or prior sex <strong>of</strong>fender, staff is required to:(A)(B)(C)(D)All inmates required to register as a sex <strong>of</strong>fender shall have an updatedphoto taken no more than 30 days prior to release from prison.Prepare triplicate original Notice <strong>of</strong> Duty to Register Forms (print detailsfrom IPT batch job 02), review the forms with the inmate, and have theinmate review and sign all originals to acknowledge understanding <strong>of</strong> thestatutory reporting mandates. In keeping with General Statutes, the Noticeto the Inmate must occur not less than 10 days nor more than 30 days priorto release. To obtain this information, each facility should access the“scheduled release <strong>of</strong> sexual <strong>of</strong>fender” screen on OPUS as follows: IP57 7MMDDYY_MMDDYY #### (unit number). OPUS will then provide alist <strong>of</strong> all <strong>of</strong>fenders required to register under the Amy Jackson Lawscheduled for release between the specified dates. On the first Monday <strong>of</strong>each month, the date range shall be from the 15th day <strong>of</strong> the month throughthe end <strong>of</strong> the month. On the third Monday <strong>of</strong> the month, the date rangeshall be from the 1st day <strong>of</strong> the next month through the 14th day <strong>of</strong> the nextmonth.Provide inmate with a copy <strong>of</strong> the DC979, Notice <strong>of</strong> Duty to Register as aSex Offender/Offender Acknowledgement. This is a summary <strong>of</strong>information provided by the SBI and is to be given to the inmate uponrelease so he/she will be aware <strong>of</strong> statutory requirements related to sexual<strong>of</strong>fenders. The inmate does not sign this copy. Do not send copies toCombined Records, SBI, or the Classification Manager.Complete the Inmate Release Plan screen (IP55). IP55 completion must beas accurate and complete as possible, with the state and county codeessential.
