Being married at the church… what can Isay? It was simply magical. We chose thechurch because it was beautiful, of course,and silly as it sounds – the location was spoton, but there was something else. A feelingyou get when you are inside. An elementthat can’t be described but was tangiblenonetheless. Perhaps it’s the 200+ yearhistory of the church, or the friendly congregationor the down-to-earth demeanor ofDr. Smazik or the genuine warmth behindCindy Alloway’s hugs. Probably it’s all thesethings. Standing inside the sanctuary, beforeGod and with my friends and family behindme, wishing me well during the most overwhelmingevent in my life up to that pointfilled me with a feeling of such reverence.The pre-wedding meetings with Dr. Smazikwere awesome. He calmed our fears,answered our questions and imparted advicethat I’ve used already in my 4 month oldmarriage.Without planning it or even intending to, wefound ourselves joining. We had a greatrelationship before we stumbled upon ThePresbyterian Church in Morristown, butrealized it was exactly what our relationshipwas missing. We would not have discoveredthat if it hadn’t been for the easygoing andwelcoming nature of the congregation.After the wedding, I asked the guests whattheir favorite part of the day was, and almostall of them said the ceremony. Of course itwas. The reception, while fun, was – let’s behonest – a party.When we started planning the wedding, wewanted something simple and elegant, yes,but we were more interested in creating thefoundation for a strong marriage. Thechurch was perfect.
