Sixty-one <strong>Lions</strong>, Spouses andguests and six little buckaroos dressed up in theirTexas finery and enjoyed a “Fajitas Buffet” with allthe “fixin’s.”The highlight of the evening’s entertainment wasthe joyous singing of traditional Christmas songs inGerman by the <strong>New</strong> <strong>Braunfels</strong> Kinder Choir.However, a crowd favorite was their Germanrendition of “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!”The B Kinder Choir in full costume delightedeveryone with their joyous singing!Cowboy President Jeff and Terri Kunkelalong with their buckaroos welcomedeveryone to a Texas sized party!Donations to the SOS Food Bank were alsorounded-up during the evening and delivered thenext day as a way for the <strong>Club</strong> to “Serve” during theseason of giving.Lion Harry & Barbara Botkin find the“fixin’s” for the Fajitas BuffetThe buckaroos help unload the chuck wagon fullof canned goods and goodies for SOS.

The first date is Saturday,January 20, 2007, from 12 noon to 4 pm(workers arrive at 11 am for orientation). Laterdates are March 10 and June 30. The locationfor these scheduled Mobile Health ScreeningUnit events is the McKenna Events Center at 801West San Antonio Street, B.Volunteers serve in a variety of ways includingregistration of clients, staffing the unit andperforming the hearing tests, blood pressuretests, eyes exams, and blood sugar exams.Service is not just our motto, but is a way ofdirectly helping people through providingexcellent health screenings. When possible, theBloodmobile is also scheduled for the same hoursand location.

The purpose of the photocontest is to showcase the beauty of nature. In 1972,<strong>Lions</strong> <strong>Club</strong>s International made a commitment toprotecting the environment. Photographs must besubmitted to the club-level in early January for localjudging. Multiple District level winners’ photos must besubmitted by March 1 to LCI. Photos can be in color orin black and white. Traditional prints, digital photos, orslides can be submitted. All the rules are available at:http://www.lionsclubs.org/EN/content/environment_photo_contest.shtml#<strong>Lions</strong> can enter photographs of their environment(without people) in one of the following categories:urban or natural landscape; animal life; plant life;weather phenomena; and a special annual theme,“Serving Our Environment.” Winning club-levelphotographs will advance to the district, multipledistrict, and international competitions. Registeredattendees of the LCI convention will vote for the six(includes Best of Show) international photo contestwinners. After brief discussion, the Board rescheduled theJanuary Board meeting for Monday, January 8, 2007.The Quarterly Business Meeting scheduled for Januarywill be on Wednesday, January 17, 2007.BOARD OF DIRECTORSDECEMBER ACTIO REPORT[From the December 4th Minutes]Treasurer’s ReportTreasurer Ken DeMaet distributed copies of theTreasurer’s Report for the period 10/30/06 to 12/4/06.The Administrative Fund opened with a balance of$3,848.16. Income for the period totaled $1,162.50, andExpenses totaled $601.77. The Closing Balance was$4,408.89. The Project Fund opened with a balance of$12,510.73. Income of $27,252.41 was received;Expenses totaled $12,182.13. The Closing Balance was$27,581.01. Treasurer DeMaet also presented backupdocuments showing check book detail and the Budgetverses Actual for both funds for the reported period. Anadditional report on Revenues & Expense for Wurstfest2006 was presented indicating revenues of $27,181.05and expenses of $11,850.13. The net income was$15,330.92.Committee ReportsPresident Jeff Kunkel expressed appreciation for thework of Vice President Bob Spiegel and all ourvolunteers for Wurstfest, 2006, and the excellent reportof financial results already presented.Vice-President Spiegel reported for the Mobile HealthScreening Unit that three more dates are scheduled forthe remaining months of this Lion’s Year, 2006-2007,January 20, March 10, June 30..Old BusinessSecretary Kandeler reported that he had contacted SandyHale of Rockdale Sports and Embroidery about thestatus of our proposed order of new vests. She is tryingto find a blue material to closely match our current bluevests and will submit her bid on per vest costs as soon asthe material is identified.ew BusinessPresident Kunkel announced that the January Boardmeeting would be rescheduled due to the January 1, <strong>New</strong>Years Day conflict with the regularly scheduled time.President Kunkel presented with regret, yet personalaffirmation for, First Vice President Harry Botkin’sletter of resignation for his office. The letter is filed withthese minutes. The resignation was filed as beingeffective on the date of November 12, 2006. PresidentKunkel expresses appreciation for VP Botkin’scompletion of his work through the end of Wurstfest.The Board accepted the letter of resignation on a motionby Director Petersen, seconded by Tail Twister BillWhite.President Kunkel let the Board in a brief review ofunpaid items in the Project Fund Budget for the year.Items to be paid and not paid until an agencyrepresentative can be presented with their check at a<strong>Club</strong> meeting were identified. Treasurer DeMaet notedthe Board’s consensus on what items to pay now: BlueSanta; Eden Home; Hope Hospice; Texas <strong>Lions</strong> CampGolf Tournament; United Way; and YMCA..President Kunkel presented the need for the Board toapprove a contribution for the Kinder Choir that willperform at the Christmas Party. The normal amount is$50 for a performance.
