PAGE 4RED RAIDERS TIMESKEYPORT ST. PATRICKS DAY PARADEMarch 23, 2013 marked the8th annual <strong>Keyport</strong>’s St.Patrick’s Day Parade. TheParade started at St. Joseph’schurch and ended atFireman’s Park. It started at1:00 pm on Saturdayafternoon. There were manyparticipants such as our GrandMarshal, Harry Aumack,<strong>Keyport</strong> Fire Department,<strong>Keyport</strong> First Aid Squad andthe Cadets, <strong>Keyport</strong> OEMand CERT, Union Beach FireDepartment, <strong>Keyport</strong>Indians, Democratic Club,The Elks, Knights ofColumbus, The Masons,<strong>Keyport</strong> Historical Society,<strong>Keyport</strong> Kids, <strong>Keyport</strong>Central <strong>School</strong> Band and GirlScouts. There were also 5pipe bands marching. <strong>Keyport</strong>really did show they’re Irishpride!After the horrible mess thatHurricane Sandy caused thisreally brought the communitytogether. The day wasbeautiful and the weather wasperfect. I don’t think wecould’ve asked for a betterday. Even if you weren’tIrish, you could act as if youwere at the parade. The floatslooked amazing and everyoneenjoyed the parade. The bagpipers sounded great and sodid the bands. People camefrom all over just to see the<strong>Keyport</strong>’s St. Patrick’s DayParade!Story by: Kassidy Gray and Sage MoyerKCS SOFTBALLI, Mackenzie Matarese,recently spoke with the<strong>Keyport</strong> Central <strong>School</strong>’ssoftball coach, Miss Minuskin.Miss “M”, as she is commonlyknown as, has been coachingin the Central <strong>School</strong> for thepast three years. Beforecoaching the middle schoolsoftball team, she coached the<strong>Keyport</strong> High <strong>School</strong> varsityteam. Miss Minuskin is anexperienced softball player.She played while she was inhigh school and she reallyloves the sport.The 2013 softball season willcontinue until May 15 th . Theteam will be playing against<strong>Red</strong> Bank, Keansburg, AsburyPark, Henry Hudson, UnionBeach and Monmouth Beach.Miss Minuskin hopes the2013 KCS softball team willhave a successful season andthat everyone involved has agreat time. Art club is a club for6th and 7th graders to expresstheir artistic personality. It isafter school from 3:00pm to4:00pm. Right now, studentsare working on papier-mâchépiggy banks and self-portraitcollages. It’s a project wherethe collage will be all aboutyou and only you!There will be an upcomingart show on May 23rd here atthe Central <strong>School</strong>. As youknow, it’s the day of thedrama production. If youwould like to learn moreabout the upcoming art show,contact Ms. Forsyth at ext.2234. When walking throughKCS, you may be able towitness the amazing pieces ofart that our students haveproduced.
