名 古 屋 市 / Nagoya本 州 の 中 央 部 ・ 南 側 にあたる 概 ね 低 平 な 地 域 に、 名 古 屋 市 があります。 名 古 屋 市 は 愛 知 県 の 県 庁 所 在 地 になっており、 人口 は 約 220 万 人 で 東 京 、 横 浜 、 大 阪 に 次 いで 我 が 国 第 4 位 の都 市 です。 東 京 と 京 都 の 中 間 に 当 たるため、 中 京 とも 呼 ばれ、かつては 金 の 鯱 鉾 で 有 名 な 名 古 屋 城 の 城 下 町 として 栄 えました。 今 や 中 京 工 業 地 帯 の 中 核 として、 中 部 ・ 東 海 地 区 の 産 業経 済 をはじめ、 行 政 ・ 文 化 ・ 交 通 の 一 大 中 心 地 となっています。市 域 は、 濃 尾 平 野 を 北 部 にひかえて 南 は 伊 勢 湾 に 臨 み、 庄 内川 河 口 のデルタ 地 帯 から 東 部 の 丘 陵 地 までほぼ 平 坦 な 広 がりを 見 せており、 現 在 は16の 行 政 区 に 分 かれています。観 光 地 としては、 名 古 屋 城 が 代 表 的 ですが、 熱 田 神 宮 や 名 古屋 テレビ 塔 、 東 山 公 園 なども 大 きなみどころとしてあげられます。また、 豊 臣 秀 吉 の 生 誕 地 であり、 織 田 信 長 ・ 徳 川 家 康など 日 本 史 上 の 人 物 についての 逸 話 のほか、 現 在 の 市 街 の 陰にひっそり 隠 れて、 数 多 くの 史 跡 があります。Nagoya is located in central Japan. It is a capital city ofAichi prefecture, and the fourth largest city in Japan, (afterTokyo, Yokohama and Osaka) having a population of about2.2 million. Nagoya, previously a castle town, famous forthe golden dolphins of Nagoya Castle, is now the economic,administrative and cultural center of the Chubu and Tokaiareas. It is also the leading center of the Chukyo Industrialarea.As for tourist spots: Nagoya Castle is attractive, andAtsuta Shrine, Nagoya Television Tower and HigashiyamaPark are good sights to visit. Moreover, Nagoya has manyplaces of historic interest, which exist quietly behind thebusy streets of the city.
