<strong>Sunnybrook</strong> Foundation exists to support the Hospital to achieve the vision of inventing<br />
the future of health care by securing philanthropic support from the community. The<br />
Foundation has been awarded the highest possible rating of four stars by Charity<br />
Intelligence Canada for efficient use of donor funds, transparency <strong>and</strong> accountability.<br />
Cycling event raises funds for prostate cancer care<br />
Dozens of cyclists pedalled from Muskoka<br />
to <strong>Sunnybrook</strong> in August as part of the<br />
<strong>2014</strong> Tour de Bleu, raising funds for<br />
the purchase of an advanced 3T MRI<br />
machine to aid prostate cancer patients.<br />
The equipment is indispensable to the<br />
Odette Cancer Centre’s establishment<br />
of a prostate centre that will support<br />
groundbreaking research, improve <strong>and</strong><br />
create new diagnostic methods, <strong>and</strong><br />
deliver precise, image-guided treatments<br />
that maximize effectiveness while<br />
minimizing harm. The MRI scanner will<br />
provide superior imaging of soft tissues<br />
<strong>and</strong> tumours, enabling medical staff to<br />
detect prostate cancer at the earliest<br />
stages <strong>and</strong> in some cases find tumours<br />
missed by st<strong>and</strong>ard imaging.<br />
