OPEN FACULTY POSITION: RESEARCH ASSISTANT PROFESSORCENTER FOR SPACE EXPLORATION TECHNOLOGY RESEARCHUNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT EL PASOPOSITION DESCRIPTION: The Center for Space Exploration Technology Research (cSETR) and the MechanicalEngineering Department at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) announces a Research Assistant Professor positionin broad areas of energy and propulsion engineering. Applicants with teaching and research backgrounds in renewable andalternative energy, bio-fuels, and green propellants areas are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate willwork with the center director and the department chair for the development and coordination of the ‘Energy Engineering’PhD program.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or energy relateddisciplines is required, with the potential to generate funded research and a commitment to teaching and scholarship at theundergraduate and graduate levels.ABOUT THE MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: The Department of Mechanical Engineering at UTEPhas an enrollment of more than 400 graduate and undergraduate students. The department boasts a rapidly growing researchprogram with emphasis in aerospace, energy and biomedical sciences. The department has research laboratories inbiomedical manufacturing and engineering, combustion and propulsion, and high temperature materials. The department alsohas exceptional computational and CAD/CAM facilities. The department offers BS and MS degrees in MechanicalEngineering and a MS degree in Manufacturing Engineering. The department also participates in interdisciplinary PhDprograms in Materials Science Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering and Computational Science. Thedepartment has over 7M in funded research this year, including a recent NASA University Research Center for SpaceExploration Technology Research.ABOUT UTEP & EL PASO: UTEP is a Carnegie doctoral-intensive university with an enrollment of over 20,000 students.It serves a large, bicultural population located on the U.S.–Mexico border.
