Judge InformationJUDGING REQUIREMENTSPersons interested in serving the <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Association as an adjudicator are directed to meet three criteria establishedby the Executive Committee:1. You must have taught successfully in the area of adjudication for five years.2. You must attend an adjudicator’s certification clinic session.3. You must be recommended, in writing, to the IHSMA office by two people currently on the “Approved” adjudicator listing.IHSMA SPECIALIST CERTIFICATION CLINICSIHSMA will again be offering specialist certification sessions for adjudicators. Specialist Certification Sessions will be offered inthe following areas: Large Group, Show Choir, Jazz Choir, Jazz Band, and Marching Band. <strong>The</strong>se sessions will last 1 hour andwill be offered at the ICDA, IBA, and ISTA conferences as they are developed. Attendance at one of these sessions will meetthe re-certification requirements of IHSMA. Those individuals that have obtained their specialist certification will be first consideredwhen offering judging contracts.BASIC IHSMA ADJUDICATION CERTIFICATION CLINICS<strong>The</strong> <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Association will conduct Adjudicator Certification Clinics in late <strong>August</strong> for wind, percussion, andstring adjudicators; and in late September for vocal adjudicators. <strong>The</strong>se sessions will operate between the hours of 7:00 – 9:00p.m. You must register for attendance in advance of the clinic. Registration is required for all certification clinics as ameans of guaranteeing the correct amount of materials.Five different sites have been selected geographically for each discipline. A site will not open if less than five (5) people will bein attendance. If a site will not open because of insufficient enrollment, we will attempt to schedule you into a nearby site on adifferent date.REGISTRATION FOR ATTENDANCE MUST BE BY TELEPHONE ONLY! Call the Association office (515-432-2013), ask forDonna, to reserve a place at the session you have chosen to attend.
