Meeting MinutesMINUTES OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETINGJanuary 22, <strong>2009</strong><strong>The</strong> Executive Committee of the <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Association met in Boone, <strong>Iowa</strong> at the associationoffices at 9:00 a.m. Executive Committee members present were: Leon Kuehner, Hampton; Mark Lehmann,Waverly; Todd Lettow, Hampton; Brian Ney, Cresco; and Mike Teigland, Indianola. Absent was Susan Stogdill,Malvern. Also in attendance was Alan Greiner, Executive Director who served as recording secretary.President Kuehner chaired the meeting.MMS (Lehmann/Teigland) to approve the minutes from: October 23, 2008. PASSEDMMS (Lettow/Ney) to approve the financial bills as submitted. PASSEDJim Henkel from Henkel and Associates was on hand to provide the results of the financial audit of 2007-2008year. MMS (Lehmann/Ney) to approve the auditor’s report. PASSEDALL-STATE MUSIC FESTIVAL: Director Greiner presented an up-to-date financial report for the 2008 festival.<strong>The</strong> director also presented a report of participation statistics and was instructed to place that report online.October 24, <strong>2009</strong> and <strong>No</strong>vember 19-21, <strong>2009</strong> will serve respectively as the audition and festival dates fornext year. <strong>The</strong> CD, DVD, and T-shirt programs and their suppliers were reviewed. MMS (Ney/Teigland) touse the same suppliers for the <strong>2009</strong> Festival. Suppliers used were: CD’s and DVD’s Comprehensive Soundand IPTV; T-Shirts – <strong>The</strong> Graphic Edge. PASSED MMS (Teigland/Lehmann) to maintain the current All-State Conductor Honorarium for 2011 at $1,800. PASSED <strong>The</strong> All-State Chaperone policy was reviewed forthe <strong>2009</strong> festival. Discussion was had concerning the current All-State District lines and the philosophy behindthose lines. <strong>The</strong> director was instructed to provide a current map without string entries included. Other discussionwas had concerning moving the time-line up ½ hour for those students staying in the Motels and having a9:00 am Audition start-time for 1 st round auditions. <strong>The</strong>se items will be placed on the agenda for the jointIHSMA/IMEA Board Meeting in April. MMS (Lehmann/Lettow) to figure All-State Chorus Quotas after the1 st round of chorus auditions on audition day (during RECALLS). PASSED. MMS (Lehmann/Ney) to allowsolo vocal auditions for All-State only if there is not a spot available in a duet, trio, or quartet from that schoolin the initial registration. PASSED MMS (Lehmann/Ney) to approve a 3-year agreement with Jolesch Photography(<strong>2009</strong>-2011) to provide photo service for the All-State <strong>Music</strong> Festival. PASSEDMMS (Teigland/Ney) to implement a 3-year plan to purchase digital voice recorders to be used in conjunctionwith each of our festivals where verbal comments are provided. <strong>The</strong> first set of recorders to be purchased yetthis year. PASSEDSHOW-JAZZ CHOIR/JAZZ BAND FESTIVAL: <strong>The</strong> registration report was presented. This year’s eventexperienced a net loss in participation of 27 ensembles.PIANO FESTIVAL: <strong>The</strong> registration report was presented and a loss of 11 entries was noted.45
