PIANO FESTIVALFebruary 13, 2010Registration for this festival will be online. Instructions for doing so can be found online. The Registration Deadlinedate for entry is January 7, 2010; Penalty Deadline is January 14, 2010. A valid check or purchase order number mustbe submitted online on or before January 7, 2010 for your registration process to be complete without penalty. Youknow that your registration is complete when the check number or purchase order number you input appears inthe bottom left hand corner of your online invoice. To check this you will need to view the invoice after submittingyour check or purchase order number. At this point also review your invoice for accuracy! Then print off a copy ofthe invoice and take it to your office for payment. If you have a problem, contact the IHSMA office immediately. Finalpayment should be mailed to: Iowa High School Music Association, PO Box 10, Boone, IA 50036-0010. This payment isdue 30 days from your registration date.Rules and Regulations1. A fee of $10 will be charged for each entry.2. Schools may have an unlimited number of participants.3. Solo and duet entries are permitted. Duet entries must be 1 piano, 4 hands.4. Students may enter multiple duet entries provided they change literature and partner.5. All entry fees should be sent to Iowa High School Music Association, PO Box 10, Boone, Iowa 50036-0010.6. Adjudication forms for this festival can be downloaded from the IHSMA website.7. Piano adjudication forms must be completed in every detail - school name, performer(s), selection, and be postmarkedfirst-class to your festival manager by February 3, 2010. Do not send adjudication forms to the IHS-MA. Schools failing to comply with this regulation will incur a $25 penalty.8. Solo(s) will be performed from memory.9. A copy of the score(s) will be provided for the convenience of the adjudicator. All measures must be numbered. Aperformance will not be permitted for participants that do not comply with this regulation. Photocopies are not permitted.Judges will withhold the rating for all performances employing illegally duplicated scores. The Executive Directorwill disqualify these performances.10. Time limit is 5 minutes for solo entries, 6 minutes for duet entries. There is a 2 1/2 minute minimum performancetime, which will be penalized at the rate of 1 point for every 15 second segment of violation.11. Performers must be eligible high school students (grades 9-12).12. Only member schools can register participating students.13. The rating system employed for this festival will be: Division I, II, III, IV, V - Superior, Excellent, Good, Fair, and Poor.14. The host site will send a schedule to each participating school.15. A 15 second warm-up period will be permitted on the center piano to allow the students to determine the touch andfeel for the instrument.16. Adjudicators may speak with participants for a brief moment at the conclusion of their performance.17.
