Solving the ProblemFor more than 30 years Cordek has provided an extensive range offormwork for construction applications - from the relatively simple to themost complex.Double curvature formwork was supplied for thisvilla in Qatar.Positioning formwork for the domed roof of the new visitorcentre at the Cliffs of Moher, Eire.Forming the concrete base of the arch at thenew Wembley Stadium.


This brochure is designed to show the breadth of productsnow readily available from Cordek.Finished in fibreglass, this multi-use mushroom shape columnhead shutter is 2.5 metres in diameter.A bell-mouth shutter used for drop pipeoutlets in water/sewage works. It is 4.3metres in diameter and is coated in fibreglass.Finished concrete and formwork for the standat Lords Cricket Ground.1


Glassfibre <strong>Formwork</strong>Cordek have combined their design and technical expertise with the skillsof Production Glassfibre Limited, the UK’s largest glassfibre manufacturer,and can now supply high quality multi-use glassfibre moulds and formwork.Massive glassfibre barrel arch moulds in position on the Lefarge Cement HQ in Birmingham.To ease handling and striking, the13.5 metre lengths were formed ofthree sections, each of whichweighed approximately 250 kilos.The barrel arches were 13.5 metres long and 3 metres wide.2


To meet a very tight programme, the 84 units supplied were manufactured by Production Glassfibrefrom three plants - two in England and one in Scotland.The use of glassfibre moulds ensured the top class finish that the architects required.A feature was made ofthe joints by using specialrubber infills.Large glassfibre moulds awaiting shipment.Glassfibre ‘bolt on’ balconies used to renovate flats.3


ColumnsAs these illustrations show, column shutters can besupplied to virtually any design.Octagonal SectionCircular Section Oval Section Elliptical Section4mm thick foam strips are used to prevent grout loss.This sequence of photographs shows the formwork through to the finished column.4


The formwork can be faced in a polypropylene or fibreglass skin, depending on the design and thefinish required. When needed, Cordek’s in-house design team can generate a 3D model of the stairprofile for customer approval.A spiral staircase under construction.7


Curved <strong>Formwork</strong>Cordek’s range of curved expanded polystyrene formwork can be coatedin polypropylene or plywood, depending upon the finish required.Heavy duty fibreglass moulds are readily available for multi-useapplications.Precision cut polystyrene formwork, faced withplywood, was used to create this curved bridgewith it’s pleasing finish.8

Special trapezoidal units were produced to form the elliptical groovesin the roof.Routed formwork was used to formthis anchor block for a footbridge.12
