Previous Detroitwinners entered include Dario Franchitti (1999), Helio Castroneves (2000-2001), Tony Kanaan (2007) and Justin Wilson (2008).Thirteen drivers entered in the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prixcompeted in the last IndyCar Series event at the circuit in 2008. Five of thosedrivers led laps at the track (Helio Castroneves 79, Tony Kanaan 20, ScottDixon 18, Oriol Servia 1 and Justin Wilson 15.)The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will be the fifth race on aroad/street course in 2012. The first four races were won by Helio Castroneves(St. Pete) and Will Power (Barber, Long Beach and Sao Paulo). Team Penskehas dominated the Firestone Fast Six qualifying, sweeping the pole position foreach of the first four races.At least 12 drivers will compete in their first Indy car race at Belle Isle:Rubens Barrichello, Sebastien Bourdais, Mike Conway, Simona deSilvestro, JR Hildebrand, James Hinchcliffe, James Jakes, CharlieKimball, Katherine Legge, Josef Newgarden Simon Pagenaud andTakuma Sato.
