When and Why Did You Begin Your <strong>Travel</strong>ers’ Philanthropy Program?Philanthropic travel was fundamental to our original company philosophy: we were founded inorder to leverage support <strong>for</strong> urgent global issues. The company‘s founder, DominiqueCallimanopulos, became conscious of the inequities between travelers and native communitiesduring her travels growing up in an international family. This inspired her involvement with manynon-profits and philanthropists. Dominique saw the opportunity to combine singular travel withgiving back to the communities. Elevate Destinations developed from this vision.How Do You Select Projects?We rigorously research non-profit partners to identifyprojects and organizations that exemplify bestpractices and then we partner with them either asbeneficiaries or clients. The non-profit projects,grantees, and clients <strong>for</strong> whom we have organizedtrips include: Dian Fossey Fund, Global Fund <strong>for</strong>Women, Global Fund <strong>for</strong> Children, Global Giving,Rare Conservation, The Foundation <strong>for</strong> Tomorrow,Kickstart, Ecologic, Direct Relief International, PlanUSA, School <strong>for</strong> Field Studies, Survival International,and Water Partners International. Projects andGlobal Fund <strong>for</strong> Women trip, India.Credit: Lori Barra, Elevate Destinations.organizations can benefit from our company in one of two ways: either by being a directbeneficiary of private Elevate Destinations trips, or as clients by using our donor travel servicesto increase donor investment.How are Your Employees and Your Company Involved in the Philanthropy Program?Elevate Destinations‘ staff assists in planning the trips and making all necessary travelarrangements <strong>for</strong> our travelers. We also research and vet prospective new partners.
