Themost-watched birds, waterfowl (ducks<strong>and</strong> geese, primarily), were watched by13.3 million people. Next on the list <strong>of</strong>most-watched were birds <strong>of</strong> prey whichdrew 12.9 million trip-takers, followedby songbirds with 12.1 millionwatchers. Herons, shore birds, <strong>and</strong>other water birds attracted 10.6 millionrecreationists. Lastly, other birds, suchas road runners <strong>and</strong> turkeys, attracted6.9 million wildlife watchers.L<strong>and</strong> mammals, such as deer, bears,<strong>and</strong> coyotes, were observed, fed,or photographed by 13.7 millionpeople—61 percent <strong>of</strong> all away-fromhomeparticipants. Fish attracted theattention <strong>of</strong> 6.4 million people or 28percent <strong>of</strong> all away-from-home recreationists.<strong>About</strong> 4.0 million people or 18 percent<strong>of</strong> all away-from-home participantsobserved, fed, or photographed marinemammals, such as whales, seals, <strong>and</strong>dolphins.
