They comprised 31 percent<strong>of</strong> all wildlife watchers. Most popularwith away-from-home participants wasclosely observing wildlife. <strong>About</strong> 19.8million participants, 8 percent <strong>of</strong> theU.S. population 16 years old <strong>and</strong> older,observed wildlife an average <strong>of</strong> 14days in 2011. Photographing wildlifewas enjoyed by 12.4 million people, 5percent <strong>of</strong> the U.S. population. Theyaveraged 9 days per photographer.Approximately 5.4 million people fedwildlife an average <strong>of</strong> 11 days <strong>and</strong>comprised 2 percent <strong>of</strong> the U.S. population.<strong>About</strong> 82 percent <strong>of</strong> all away-fromhomeparticipants took trips withintheir resident state to participate inwildlife watching.
