<strong>The</strong>refore, Manjushri, if <strong>the</strong>re are men <strong>and</strong> women who, with utmost sincerity,diligently worship <strong>and</strong> make <strong>of</strong>ferings to <strong>Medicine</strong> <strong>Master</strong> Vaidurya LightTathágata <strong>the</strong>y should always recite this mantra <strong>and</strong>never forget it.""Moreover, Manjushri, men, or women <strong>of</strong> pure faith, who have heard all <strong>the</strong>names <strong>of</strong> <strong>Medicine</strong> <strong>Master</strong> Vaidurya Light Tathágata, One <strong>of</strong> Proper, <strong>and</strong> EqualEnlightenment, should recite <strong>and</strong> uphold <strong>the</strong>m. In <strong>the</strong> early morning, afterbrushing <strong>the</strong>ir teeth <strong>and</strong> bathing, <strong>the</strong>y should make <strong>of</strong>ferings <strong>of</strong> fragrantflowers, incense, perfumed balms, <strong>and</strong> various kinds <strong>of</strong> music before an image<strong>of</strong> that Buddha.<strong>The</strong>y should personally write out this <strong>Sutra</strong> or ask o<strong>the</strong>rs to do so, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>yshould single-mindedly <strong>and</strong> constantly recite it. If <strong>the</strong>y listen to explanations <strong>of</strong>it’s meaning from a Dharma <strong>Master</strong>, <strong>the</strong>y should make <strong>of</strong>ferings to him <strong>of</strong> allnecessities, so that he is without <strong>the</strong> slightest want.In this way, <strong>the</strong>y will receive <strong>the</strong> mindful protection <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Buddhas. All <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong>ir wishes will be fulfilled, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>y will ultimately attain Bodhi."At that time, <strong>the</strong> Pure Youth Manjushri said to <strong>the</strong> Buddha,"World Honored One, I vow that in <strong>the</strong> Dharma-Image Age, using variousexpedient means, I shall enable good men <strong>and</strong> women <strong>of</strong> pure faith to hear <strong>the</strong>name <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> World Honored One, <strong>Medicine</strong> <strong>Master</strong> Vaidurya Light Tathágata.Even during <strong>the</strong>ir sleep, I will awaken <strong>the</strong>m with this Buddha's name.""World Honored One, <strong>the</strong>re may be those who accept <strong>and</strong> uphold this <strong>Sutra</strong>,read <strong>and</strong> recite it, explain its meanings for o<strong>the</strong>rs, write it out <strong>the</strong>mselves, ortell o<strong>the</strong>rs to write it out.<strong>The</strong>y may revere it by making <strong>of</strong>ferings <strong>of</strong> various flowers, paste incense,powdered incense, stick incense, flower garl<strong>and</strong>s, necklaces, banners, canopies,<strong>and</strong> music.<strong>The</strong>y may make bags <strong>of</strong> five-colored thread in which to keep <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sutra</strong>.<strong>The</strong>y may sweep clean a place <strong>and</strong> arrange a high altar on which to place this<strong>Sutra</strong>.At that time, <strong>the</strong> Four Heavenly Kings with <strong>the</strong>ir retinues <strong>and</strong> o<strong>the</strong>rinnumerable hundreds <strong>of</strong> thous<strong>and</strong>s <strong>of</strong> gods will come to that place to worship<strong>and</strong> protect it.World Honored One, it should be known that if, in <strong>the</strong> places where thisprecious <strong>Sutra</strong> circulates, people can accept <strong>and</strong> uphold it, <strong>the</strong>n due to <strong>the</strong>merit <strong>and</strong> virtue <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> past vows <strong>of</strong> that World Honored One, <strong>Medicine</strong> <strong>Master</strong>
